ylomnstr
Hi guys. New to the site here. Looking to buy my first set of camo for bow season in NY. I was at walmart tonight and I'm confused. Is the team realtree camo they have there made by Realtree on this site? I can't find any other info in regards to some of the stuff walmart had like this: Realtree AP-Xtra 1/4-Zip Performance Layer, Available in Multiple Sizes: Hunting : Walmart.com They also had some realtree waterproof and windproof hooded jackets that I was interested in. I figured I'd have more options online when I got home, but I can't find anything regarding this brand. Is it only Walmart that sells it? They also had some realtree stuff with the orange branding, but I can't find that online anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Ravin R10 man
Welcome to RT..Real Tree makes no camo..only the pattern, that is licensed out to manufacturers, check out Cabelas, Bass Pro shop, gander Mt. or Blaines Fleet Farm
ylomnstr
Thanks. But how come the tags say RealTree and have the RealTree logo? Just because they're using the pattern, but not really made by RealTree?
Dawg
Thanks. But how come the tags say RealTree and have the RealTree logo? Just because they're using the pattern, but not really made by RealTree? Realtree designs the patterns and different clothing manufacturers pay Realtree to use the pattern. The tags will have the Realtree logo because it is Realtrees camo design/pattern.
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
I mean, yeah you can get RealTree licenced camo at Walmart, I've done it. I won't do it again. All my RealTree now had a Redhead logo on it. Bass Pro is pretty much the only place I go now for camo.

wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Wal mart prices are sometimes hard to beat, quality of some of their stuff is pretty fair, would not hurt to check reviews if available since you are looking online. Personally I for the most part buy cabelas stuff, they have great quality but have bought some camo clothes from wal mart over the years and had no issues with them. Maine Hntr
Cabelas and Bass Pro are definitely quality products and its tough to go wrong buying from them, little to no doubt about what you're getting!
Turkeygirl
I find Walmart clothing just doesn't fit well....Rarely buy it...if I'm going to spend money, better of elsewhere. Now Cabelas is good is stuff:)
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Because the cheap company that made the shirt used the cheapest dye possible. Two washes and it faded so bad it looked like it was a few years old.
Dawg
Turn all your camo inside out when you wash it. It'll keep it from fading as bad.
ylomnstr
Well I bit the bullet. I went to Gander Mountain yesterday, and even their clearance camo was about $70 for the cheapest pair of pants. So I went back to Walmart and picked up 2 pair of pants, 2 hooded jackets, and one performance long sleeve shirt for under $150. I figure since I'm new to this, no point in spending so much money not even knowing how much I'm going to use it. They have all sorts of different matching camo. Tshirts, thermal shirts, etc... I bought the one set because it said it was waterproof figuring I'll use that in the wet weather. The other green scent-factor line didn't specify waterproof and didn't seem as thick, so I'll use those on warmer, dryer days. I've attached some pictures for you to see. Not the best quality but you get the idea.

Use sportswash or equivalent here and never really had any issues with fading too fast.
ylomnstr
It definitely looks like they were trying to mimic the Under Armour stuff which I would have love to have gotten but wasn't spending that much. We'll see how this stuff holds up.

We'll see how this stuff holds up. For your base layers you really don't need camo, lots of good options too. Most my stuff is cabelas branded, don't own any under armour base stuff here, way too much $ for what it is imo. Wal mart did have some quality thermal underwear years ago from morgan mills, 2 layer wool stuff that works very well when it gets cold. I have tried finding it elsewhere to have some extra sets and no luck.
