RangerClay
Hi Stone, welcome to the forums. That request is a huge area to cover. Three questions, what is most that you want to spend and what do you plan to hunt with the bow? Also do you want new or used?
RangerClay
While we're waiting for your answer, here is a bow a recommend to most beginners. Riot | Mission Archery It's affordable, it has a lifetime guarantee, and best of all it's adjustable which makes easy for a resell if you want to upgrade or pass onto your kids. Take a minute and scroll through the reviews at the bottom of the page.

prather999
You could not go wrong with a used switchback XT by Mathews!!! They usually go for about $300 here in WV.....Great bow!!
StoneNix
I plan to hunt White tail deer with the bow, and i would REALLY prefer a new bow. I will check out all of the ones yall suggested. I have been recently been looking at BEAR compounds. I would like to keep my price UNDER $300. Thanks for all the help! SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Diamond Infinite Edge would be one to look at. Like others have already stated, there's no one "right" bow for everybody.
dbHunterNY
$300 for a new bow limits your options by a lot. $300 for a used bow can get you a pretty decent bow. just a thought. 60-70lb limbs should work for you. you need to know draw length. measure your "wing span" (measurement finger tip to finger tip, fully extended but relaxed) in inches. take that number and divide it by 2.5 to get draw length. another way is you can take wing span measurement, minus 15, and then divided by 2. average the two draw lengths you got or use the smaller one. draw length comes in 1/2" increments. most bows are adjustable in draw length without any additional parts, however no sense in eliminating those that aren't adjustable. dbHunterNY
....PSE Stinger and Bear Encounter are the only new ones that come to mind. going up to $500 gives you lots more options for new bows.
RangerClay
Dan is right. Finding a new bow for under $300 that are top quality will be a tough task. Then you will have to purchase sights, quiver, arrows, broadheads, release, and a stabilizer. All to the tune of another $2-300 min. Look at the package deals that some brands offer. A friend of mine got the least expensive package that Bear sells for $399 a couple years ago and it wasn't too bad but it needed a few extras to make it a good bow. Go to Youtube and search reviews for the Bear Outbreak and the PSE Stinger3G. Bass Pro has them in an affordable package. You will still have to drop another $200+ on arrows, broadheads, release, and practice targets.

WStreblo
I Need A New Bow! Shoot a Hoyt! Every deer you kill with one will thank you for it.
HoytHunter831
Hoyts are amazing, My Spyder shoots unreal it's sweet! Very smooth too!
bowhunter97
By new i hope you mean "new to you" because you'll be hard pressed to fine a NIB (new in box) bow that is under 300. So dont knock used bows off. Go on AT and look. I see tons of bows just over 300 that are great bows but they are used. And on AT you have feedbac so you can see what prior customers have said about the person listing the bow for sale.
Tony
need to know what your draw length is, poundage and RH or LH and age.
redkneck
Yes even at that price range there are lots of options, too many unsold models that dealers have incentives to move. Things like this: New 2013 Fred Bear Apprentice 2 RTH Bow Right Hand 20 60 15" 27" Draw 754806126845 | eBay But you'll find the same with Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, etc. They all have top tier bows in the $1000 range and they have models for lower price points as well. Don't get too caught up with speed and the newest features because you'll quickly find that price point going up. Don't be afraid to buy a used bow. This time of year you should be able to find some good trade-ins at your local shop. Don't be fooled, the depreciation on a bow is tremendous, and you can find some set-ups that were well over a thousand invested in new are now less than half that. Not all of us can keep up with the Jones's lol. Good luck.
Turkeygirl
Yeah, check out archerytalk.com....they have bows in their classifieds. If you can find the $, Elite makes a darn good bow...speaking from experience;)
wtnhunt
Good luck finding one that fits your budget. I want a new bow, and could justify "needing" one, however the funds just are not there right now due to other stuff that comes first. I would probably try find a hoyt or mathews, only downside to hoyt is the closest authorized dealer is nearly an hour away. Looks like I will still be shooting this old pse for a while. fly
My advise is to not buy a new bow for 300.00. If 300.00 is the top dollar I'd check pawn shops and stick with higher end bows made from reputable companies like: Matthews, Hoyt, and PSE. If you want a Bear - perhaps the Truth 2 model or an the Anarchy. Make sure you get measured accurately! A bow with a draw length longer than you need will result in arm slap. Burkef1
Hoyt Rampage XT best bang for your buck.
Casey
I'd suggest the mission ballistic, new in my area is $425.
Stinger-Hunter
Unless you're starving and need a bow to put food on the table, my suggestion would be to save your money and get a brand new Matthews or a used one that fits you perfectly. If you need something for this year, borrow it. Here is why: Every single time, I have gone for the less expensive bow or gun or whatever, I have regretted it. Less expensive means Inferior 99% of the time. You can not substitute quality for anything. When you get that bow, after a week, you'll wish you held out, saved a few dollars more. Just my opinion. Good Luck.
FireStation46
Better to buy an older model or used one at a Pro Shop. They can make sure it is right for you. You have to try it out too so best bet is the Pro Shop IMHO
