Ohiobucks
I'm looking at them now, just about enough to make your head spin... I'm talking to the Gravely dealer about a Pro Turn 160. Any Gravely owners on board here?
Ravin R10 man
Sorry,... JD here..http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/300/7e/7e596b58-4a3a-4447-87de-b2cb1bc4ab8b_300.jpg

Jeramie
I have an Ariens. I looked at Gravely when I bought mine but ended up with the Ariens. I looked at things like how the deck was hung, how thick it was, etc. Gravely is a very popular brand and is supposed to make a good mower. Mine has less frills than some of the others but it dang sure mows good. Once you go ZTR there is NO going back. We went from a 50" yard tractor type to a 42" ZTR and that ZTR will mow circles around a yard tractor in half the time. They are pricy but TOTALLY worth the money. Ohiobucks
After talking to a few more dealers yesterday afternoon and today, I'm going with a Gravely Pro Turn 160 with a 23.5HP Kawasaki engine, 60" fabricated deck. Pro-Turn 100 Zero Turn Mower Should have it tomorrow...
dbHunterNY
that's a good machine.... heavier weight and bigger tires. fab decks are good. your kawaski engines are said to be better than standard Kohler Courage models. you got the FX pro grade version even. I looked for a while and finally bought one. I bought a Cub Cadet Zforce 48. I didn't want to spend that kind of money though so mine has the ZT2800 hyro-gear and Kohler Pro engine instead of a Kawaski like your 160. my deck is only a fab 48" but it's easy to get around the landscaping and mows pockets and holes pretty clean. it takes me an 1.5 to mow my yard, down from well over 2 hours, so I've got no complaints. dbHunterNY
.... I should add that Cub Cadet had a program going to get hundreds off the sale price. hard to pass that up when the next model up was a $1k more.

Jeramie
Yep, that will be a good mower. HUGE deck for a ZTR, at least for moderate to light mowing. Are you mowing acerage? We literally went from about 2 hours mowing our place to an hour. The fact you dont have to mow a pattern or turn off the blade to go in reverse is HUGE. Congratulations and let us know how it does....
wtnhunt
Nice looking mower Tom. Good luck with it.

Congratulations and let us know how it does.... I keep about 2.5 to 3 acres mowed around the house. On my current mower (54" Husqvarna from Lowes) I would spend 2 evenings throughout the week, or a solid 3.5 hours on the weekend mowing the lawn. I'm looking to cut that time with this new one. I'll be out on it this Sunday, I'll let you guys know how it goes!
wtnhunt
With a 60 inch deck should not take you very long Tom, especially being a zero turn if they are all that the hype makes them out to be. Never measured exactly what our yard is but I mow at least 3 acres, probably closer to 4 acres with my 60" little kubota tractor and it takes me less than 2 hours usually. Our ground is very uneven which makes for going kinda slow for a good portion of what I mow, if it was flat and square wouldn't take probably much more than an hour. Ohiobucks
Well, this machine is an animal. Smooth, easy to operate, and can handle anything. Got the entire yard done in just under 2 hours, with a slight learning curve on the controls. Everyone said I'd cut time, but I was still a bit skeptical... not anymore.
Jeramie
Yep.... you’ll only get more efficient too. The more you handle the monster and the more you learn the way you can mow now it gets even better.
dbHunterNY
got any hills Tom? keep that front end pointed slightly up hill when going across and I got to think it'll hold well enough. it's pretty heavy with decent treads.
Ohiobucks
No hills, and very few trees. I forgot to mention how comfortable the suspension seat is. It's like your floating across the yard, even in the "rough" spots...
