MichiganHuntr1
Re: 48 5 cought cheating Oh yeah, I thought it was very classy for Jr. to Admit fault and apologize for his wreck he caused yesterday. He acted very responsible, thats pretty cool. 27th in points. Ouch!

slugshooter
Re: 48 5 cought cheating What's amazing is that I can find nothing about this on NASCAR.com but everyone seems to know something about it on here. The cars passed pre-race inspection, the cars were impounded after qualifying to limit the amount of work done on them. If there is a problem then it should be within NASCAR and while I am no engineer, it only makes sense that a car would settle after being driven at speeds approaching 190 MPH over 400 miles, that is a lot of abuse to put on anything. If the car passes a pre-race then there should be no way it would fail a post race because it would be next to impossible to alter a car during a race. Chrud
Re: 48 5 cought cheating NASCAR needs to quit with these sally fines. I was royally ticked when they took points away from Junior for swearing. That was not racing related. Cheating and having a car out of spec is racing related and points should be taken away. Take away 75 points and no money. They'll take the hint. Just remember, NASCAR made the 48 knock the sides in during a pitstop because they had pulled them out too far during the race. Jimmie drove a great race, Chad and the rest of the Lowe's team did a little too much cheating during/after the race. I didn't like that. Kenseth lost 25 points at Rockingham in 2002 because HE knocked the roof down while standing on it.
VermontHunter
Re: 48 5 cought cheating I defiantely have to agree with Chrud on this issue,,,If it's a racing infraction take enough points away to really hurt,,,,and he's right they will learn real fast,,,MONEY doesn't hurt Multi Million Dollar Teams....This has be proven time and time again, do like the NHL does maybe a few races off will get their attention..... I'm just glad that Gordon and his team didn't get involved with this mess....
slugshooter
Re: 48 5 cought cheating [ QUOTE ] Chad and the rest of the Lowe's team did a little too much cheating during/after the race. [/ QUOTE ] What are you talking about Chrud? I can't figure out what you mean by this, what would cheating after the race have any bearing on the outcome. I still haven't read anything about this on NASCAR.com so I don't really know what to think right now.
spyderpancake
Re: 48 5 cought cheating They pretty much took the win away from Harvick by moving him from 4th to 42nd at the start,, and they didn't catch him until after the fact, he was obviously the quickest car out there. Why not take the win away? Like everyone on TV has said, NASCAR has to be consistant. I think they should dock 50 points minimum.

[/ QUOTE ] Not at this race, they had both a second practice and a happy hour after qualifying, allowing the Hendricks teams plenty of time to "adjust" there cars. A lot of talk about the 48 being to low, what about the 5 being to high? How do you explain that?
VABuckSlayer
Re: 48 5 cought cheating [ QUOTE ] Just a question here for ya Chrud, when was the last time you saw NASCAR take a win away from a driver ???? I ask becuase I have never seen it done myself and just thought you may have the answer.... [/ QUOTE ] I can remember a race at Richmond when Mark Martin won the race in the Folgers car and his motor was ruled too big (cubic inches) I thought they took the win away from him or at least his points for the win. That's the only time I can remember something like that happening. Eric

VaTechHunter
Re: 48 5 cought cheating ...take all of their points away from that race then take even more away, that would stop cheating.

[/ QUOTE ] He was the quickest car during most of the race, not during qualifying. He started 42, came up through the pack, got sent to the rear of the lead lap(28) for speeding, made his way up to the top 10, then had a lugnut fall of on the last caution, restarted 19, and made it up to 5th in the last 30 green-flag laps. I'm not saying he would have won it, but he had as good a car as anyone, and his passed post-race inspection, so he was definitely the fastest out of the legal cars
