premium content membership

Has Realtree ever thought of creating a premium content area accessible only via paid membership? Called it a Realtree Insider or something like that. You could run contest and giveaways that would be funded by those who pay to participate. I'd guess a nominal fee like 12 bucks(1 per month). You could host "talk with a pro" days or insider information. If companies wanted a field tester you could draw from those names, etc.......

Just an idea

It's been discussed before, but there has never been an actual plan to do it. I know that there have been sites that have tried it and failed. It's common on sports related sites and has done well, but our concerns would be the ability to deliver unique content on an ongoing basis and make it a service someone would want to continue paying to receive. In the hunting industry that might be hard when you think about all of the free information out there such as tips, product news, etc. S

Set up a mock and take a pole to see how many people would actually do it and go from there .....

Yep posting can slow down. The real goal behind something like this is to increase membership and not divide it. The paid part should be very small in comparisons to the normal forum. The last thing you want is to reduce numbers further.

This is something that the younger crowd really buys into as opposed more seasoned members. So naturally it would drive that segment for the forum. When I joined in 2000 I was 19 years old. It's much more difficult to get a 45 year old to join as opposed to a young buck and in reality that's the future of the forum and hunting.

Personally I don't think we have the participation at this time to sustain something like that. Posting can get extremely slow in here and further dividing that up is counterproductive.

Just my 2 cents.

Gotta agree with John here. Think a pay part of the site would only be counterproductive. It does work some places, think jesseshunting has a pay portion for extra options allowing pm's and such. I have pics hosted there and used to post some there in their trail cam forum, but honestly anymore only check in there maybe once a year if that and usually only to find an old pic.

Some of the things mentioned(prizes for contests and different "pro's" posting) used to be done here and could probably be brought back if it really came down to it. Might promote more activity and more new members. Some older members probably remember the icon game, was a good idea then and would be now as well.

Waddell posted here under a couple different users a few years back, kinda funny he could not remember his profiles or passwords. Go figure. Been a number of different people in videos("pro's") who were or maybe still are members here who posted here.

Getting the chat back up and running might help promote more activity too.

I will agree on that also.

Agreed I'm a prime example of posts slowing down. I seem to get on here for a bit then not for weeks or better. I wouldn't have time or desire to belong to two sites.

This is my thought also. I probably wouldn't pay for any extras, but I'm pretty frugal lol.

I actually laughed at this..... 'cause I'm cheap too!
