RangerClay
Looks great Ken! Many, many memories to be made in there. I see one possible design flaw. How far off the concrete pad is your OSB subfloor?

colorado bob
Any chance of getting on the grid? We build a fishing cabin up in AK, it's much more wife friendly with indoor plumbing & hot shower. How are you going to heat it?
smha6784
Our 16 x 24' northern NY cabin Man that camp keeps getting nicer and nicer. After seeing your pics and how good it's turning out, the plans for the new camp we building this year are getting bigger. All cause I keep showing the boss(wife) how nice it could be. We build a fishing cabin up in AK, it's much more wife friendly with indoor plumbing & hot shower. How are you going to heat it? Oh it could be on the grid, but why would I want to do that? I own a home already... I want a camp... my wife has absolutely ZERO interest in camping or being in the woods.. this is for my children and I. Ironically it was my wifes father (who passed), that got the kids into camping.... so after he died, we talked about getting a camper, but the wife didnt want to. So then I figured the better idea was to build on the 70 acres of land I own and have it double as a hunting cabin! This will be heated with wood if you look back in the originally post, there is a pic of the Vermont Castings - Aspen, airtight wood stove

colorado bob
I understand Swampy. Electric is nice. I like to turn the lights on in the middle of the night to go to the john. I also like a refrigerator, keeps the groceries fresh & the milk cold. Plus making ice is a big plus. As far as indoor plumbing & a hot shower-------I've been told that cleanliness is next to Godliness---LOL-- It's a great cabin & you'll have memories to last a lifetime using it. I go back to Ohio to hunt deer in my brother's cabin. He & I both have get aways, my Dad always wanted one but never got one. Life's too short not to. The Bug House
Our 16 x 24' northern NY cabin Lookin' great! Love being off grid, many times I've spent a week or so at camp without flipping the breakers in. Cooking on the woodstove and lighting with oil lamps. Kids LOVE when we do that! RangerClay
We have a cabin about an hour from Swampy. Man it's nice to be off the grid!! We have gas lights (upstairs and down), hot water (milk can with a spigot on the wood stove), we use a propane zodiac for showers, we do have a shed with a generator if we want ac for the vacuum cleaner but it never runs for more than 30 min. for the entire season. Ken, I'll send you some pics with suggestions you can use if you want. I'd post them here but I don't want to hyjack the thread.

Swamphunter
Headed back out this weekend to get some work done. Can't wait. Bought my shutter hinges tonight and the material for my loft ladder and rest of cabin. Also bought all my chimney wall pass through stuff and the actually chimney pipe. That's going up Sunday. I bought the electrical for wiring for a generator and future solar. I'm so excited!

Swamphunter
not long before the stove gets fired up now! I just got the wood stove in yesterday with the help of a buddy..(well, he did most of the work, he was more experienced it with) what a PITA.... anyways its in.. even on a hot day, did a small paper draft test and seemed to have draft.... forgot to get pics.. I will next time I go out..... also got a lot more battens on... just have above the porch to do and the backside. My brother also insulated around some windows and we are getting ready to start wiring and insulating the walls...
Swamphunter
Some new pics... been slow going here lately, but did however get the wood stove in place, the chimney done and the hearth laid down.... I still need to cut the cement board to length and add one additional piece of chimney pipe which I have, just need a second set of hands out there to do it with me. I also got the rest of the battens on the backside of the cabin and the only place remaining is on the front above the porch. Sorry about the glare This is a pic of myself with my childhood and lifelong buddy who goes by the nickname Blood Clot... he's former military with tours in the middle east and time in Germany... he then became a police officer in Texas when he got back home... Cowboy Wayne
Our 16 x 24' northern NY cabin Wow I don't even know where to begin. From the craftsmanship to the functionality that place has it all. Nicely done, I mean really impressive.
Swamphunter
Other than me waiting on the cedar decking, the cabin exterior is finished up... even the windows that don't have shutters on them in the picture, are now covered with shutters. The front steps are completed also.... Here is the chimney... I have to add one 3' section, which I have purchased already and I will put it on the next time I go out there.
