wtnhunt
Anyone have any tips for keeping turkeys from wiping out a freshly planted plot? Will be planting peas and wheat in the next week or so. Last year the turkeys wiped out the wheat I planted along some edges late in the summer. Crows have been an issue with planting as well but they are not as bad as the turkeys. Crows are fair game here right now, but turkeys are not. Have heard owl decoys will work for crows, will owl decoys work with turkeys?
wtnhunt
Considered trying one of these could move around the edges of the plot as I can the first few weeks. Seems to be some mixed reviews on how well it works for geese. Dunno how that might impact deer movement around the area though, archery here opens the 4th Saturday of Sept. Got plenty of cabelas points. Wal mart has the freaky eyed owls for about $20, but don't know if one of them on a t post would help with the turkeys. WStreblo
how do you keep turkeys out Use a coyote decoy or even a cardboard cut out in the shapes of coyotes throw some color on em and post em out in the fields. I'd mount em in a fashion so that they move with the wind.

redkneck
I hate when its dry for weeks after we plant. Turkeys sure can wreak havoc on seed for sure and young plants too. I also hate them around me bowhunting. I love to watch them but they screw you up when you try to draw on a deer, they have eyes in the back of their head. wtnhunt
Welcome back Todd. Funny how the turkeys do around here. They are all over our place right now, watched a nice longbeard and 6 hens for a long time this morning, the hens are probably still eating grasshoppers in our pasture. Come turkey season they will be down deep in the bottoms and we won't see much of them. I got one of the yote deke's on the way, gotta love cabelas point system.

I ordered a tripod gun rest that supports the entire gun--made by caldwell. Seems like i hunt out of pop up blinds now more than tree stands. Getting old--lol. Plus my youngest loves going with the crossbow. I think that rest will really help her. todd
dbHunterNY
yea a coyote decoy is what I was thinking too. another fan of cableas club points here. usually save them up and burn them on an annual trip with a cabelas close by.
