hoytshooter09
Has any one used sunflowers for deer food plots? A couple of years ago our farmer planted sunflowers and I had more deer sightings that year than any other and u could see all the leaves eatin by the deer. bbarcheryhunter
Never heard of that but my dad Has a pumpkin patch right beside his land and the deer go crazy for that
hoytshooter09
Yeah I think they are great for early season but not a good late season plant for the deer
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
I haven't used either in the past, might have to look into both of these options!!
kcall
sunflowers In food plot Yes sunflowers are great if planted early enough. We've planted sunflowers 2 years in a row now and when the heads mature all the way the deer will eat every single head in an acre food plot in about 2 days. hoytshooter09
Yeah when there were sunflowers in our fields the only problem I had is there would constantly be deer bedded in them so u would have to sneak in the back way but could tell the deer lived them. dogdoc
deer around my place always devour the sunflowers. I use them in spring mixture and get few of them to mature cuz the deer eat them to the ground. don't see too many eating the seeds or the flowers once they mature. Right..leaves are gone AND, some of the stalks are just nubs...don't seem to be eating the heads that I can see
hoytshooter09
I saw mainly the leaves gone and stalks only saw a couple heads with some missing but not much. I liked em because we had an awesome dove season then a great bow season
