SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
In recent days the conversation has come up about taking an Albino Whitetail. Here in Ga they aren't protected like in other states, here's the question, If you had a chance to take one would you? My answer, yes in a heartbeat. What do you say? wtnhunt
Not legal here, never seen one either. Never even seen a piebald. Guess if it came down it and I had one in front of me and it was legal I would have to make that decision at that time based on where I try to set my goals for that year. dbHunterNY
we had a piebald doe... we just let it go. kind of neat to see. we watched it for several years then it must have died of old age.
whitetailfreak55
I believe its illegal here but couldn't tell you 100%. I would probably have to say yes that I would shoot one
hoytshooter09
Would be a tough decision you would want to let it walk because of how rare they are but you would want to shoot because of how rare they are.
whitetailfreak55
Just checked the dnr website and yes it is illegal to shoot them in Iowa
Husabud
My first deer, actually two, was an Albino. I had a group coming from behind at about 70 yds, not running, but moving. I shot the four point in the front, as the rest were spikes. It turned out to be a three point albino running next to a spike. One shot, two killed. It was taken from me by an EPO the next day. No fine Very few questions, just gone. I still wonder who has it mounted in their trophy room.
smha6784
Albino Deer We had an albino buck on our property, only had trail cams of it. No one ever saw him on the hoof. But we shot some piebalds which I assume were his off spring. I personally would love to have shot a piebald and tanned the hide. Not sure if I would shoot the albino, but that's what I'm saying now put him in front of me and I probably would!!!
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Ok, so I understand they are protected in certain areas, but, if you were hunting somewhere that they weren't protected would you take an albino? Why or why not?
Scbasshunter
Albino Deer Yes because of the rarity. Hunting is about what you think is a trophy, not what somebody else does.
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Yes because of the rarity. Hunting is about what you think is a trophy, not what somebody else does. Exactly, thank you. I'm the furthest thing from a trophy hunter, but that is one that I don't think I could pass up. That is if I could get my mind clear enough to shoot it, I'm not gonna lie, I'd be in awe of it's beauty. After that if I still had a shot..... hoytshooter09
Yes if I had the opportunity I would to rare to pass up and get it either mounted or even if it was a doe I would have the whole hide tanned
