My buddy shot a deer in the neck a couple years ago and couldn't find barely any blood for first few hundred yards. He left him over night and came back the next day to where he left off and he said he took a few steps and it looked like somebody dumped a 5 gallon bucket of red paint on the ground and ended up finding his deer. The blood was running down the bucks throat hence hardly any blood. But when he put his head down it all ran out.

Like I said earlier grab some buddies and grid search that swamp. You'll find him. Look down hill and on heavy trails and look for blood. Don't give up he might be 20 yards from where you stopped looking. Good luck

Hope you get him but your going to need some serious luck on a neck hit. Unless you clipped the jugular(which is nearly impossible if he went 300 yards) you don't have any other vitals to hit.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but you gotta let that deer walk next time. Just a extremely poor shot selection with a bow quartering to. I know it's really exciting to see bucks but you have to make good decisions when taking a shot. You already know this, but its our job as hunters to make the quickest kill possible and that equals directly broadside or quartering away with a bow at a distance your comfortable with.

How far was he and how much quartering to? Did the arrow have a chance to get into his body? How much penetration? How did he react to the hit? How much blood? What broadhead?

Did you find the arrow?

If the arrow got half way in its a single lung hit and he wasnt dead when you went after him. The frothy blood could be from an esophagus hit or single lung.

I unfortunately lost two single lung hit does last year. Both deer went over 600 yards before I lost the blood trail and both were pass thru hits.
