The Bug House
Ummm yeah I would sure like to hear an Obama address on the current senseless killings. If anything given his history he would probably be pointing the finger at someone else or making some sort of excuse as to these underprivileged punks actions being misguided result of their surroundings. That is part of the problem, lack of accountability and too many excuses. What used to be role models are now a joke from the president to sports figures. When you look at what some kids are making their role models these days, rappers and the like it is not too hard to see there is a problem. Today's society is probably to blame for the majority of the senseless killings. Kids getting no guidance and support. Parents who are afraid to discipline their kids and kids being left to raise themselves. No prayer in school, removal of Christian values in places they had been forever, leading to a lack of morals. Then you have the stresses of so many struggling thrown on top of it all. Probably better stop my rant there. I agree with your sentiment, and find many so called "role models" (Think Myley Cyrus....BLECH!) to be as vile and sickening as you do. IIRC, you have 3 girls, I do as well .. albeit younger than yours. I feel the same responsibility to install a sense of self worth and confidence in my girls and the same burden to provide a positive example for my son as you do. I work incredibly hard to provide for the family so my wife can be home with them. I volunteer my expertise, often for extended periods of time and at great inconvenience, for the better of my community, the idea of helping others makes me feel good. I have morals, I don't take advantage of others and I know plenty of people who are not Christian and are GOOD people working to make the world a better place. I hope you can see this, because the notion of "you can't be good unless you're Christian" is divisive and doesn't help in any way.

Plenty of good people out there who have good morals and values who are not Christians, I agree. We have a retired neighbor good as gold who is an eckist(sp), different from my views, but he does not try to force his views on me and I don't mine on him we talk about plenty of other topics. Just getting at most and I say most Christians do have good morals and the values.
