TeamOldham
After 10+ yrs deer hunting, we are just now using trail cams. A big boy has shown his face once since late july. We are set up on a corner bean field. Lots of does and fawns every day, multiple times a day. Also put some corn out near the camera.. Has not shown his face since july 27. Southern indiana... any ideas?!?
FireStation46
They vary their routine. Could be bucks setting up their own zones and sensitive if in velvet. keep the camera going, do not check too often and hope he wil show up when you have bow in hand. Good luck
TeamOldham
Thanks brother. FD/EMS as well. Be careful out there!
Rhino
No telling...some just vanish...others shift their routine. They don't have to shift a pattern too much to miss a trail cam. Had a big 8 last year we caught on cams several times over a 2 week period that vanished after his last visit on 7/28. On the other hand other bucks come out of the woodwork you never knew were there. Those leave you scratching your head wondering where the heck was he earlier. hoosierhunter
Where did he go!? Some deer are extremely sensitive to cameras. The buck I killed in 2010 only showed up twice on camera during the summer and I was running 4 in his core area.

Rhino
We share trail cam pics with a couple of friends of mine that are prostaffers with another company. Ironically, I got this email from one of them recently about this very same subject. Here's the part of it that applies to this thread. "If MO is anything like IA you'll be amazed how many apparent new bucks show up that you don't recognize; how many regulars disappear for no apparent reason and how many you'll be able to watch grow from year to year. bw" What he said is exactly what we experienced last year. The buck I mentioned in my 1st post was never seen during the season either. Some bucks we saw during the season never stepped in front of a trail cam too. At any given time before and during the season last year we had 9 to 11 trail cams running too. Edited August 27, 2013 by Rhino
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. May have just been passing through or he may just not use that particular area often. We got one good one we are getting pics of about every 10-12 days at our mineral site. Been a few I have killed that we never got any pics of, but been a few that I have gotten numerous pics of. Seems some just avoid the cameras. I will say this, the regularity with which we get buck pics usually picks up after ag crops start coming out. There are thousands of acres of corn within a few miles around us this year, figure or at least hoping we see a couple more decent bucks show up on cams soon.
