Welcome to the forums. I'll talk duck/goose hunting with ya anytime. It will pick up when duck season starts. I primarily hunt small waters for ducks. In my area the number 1 duck I shoot are gadwals with mallards a close second. Always pick up an occasional woodie, pintail, wigeon, and teal.

I hunt in Oklahoma--even though it's rumored that there are no ducks in oklahoma. I have two labs. A black female named Belle and a yellow female named Peach. I trained both of them--did have some help with a very good friend that is a professional trainer. Both dogs are titles in AKC and HRC. Ain't no fun duck hunting without my dogs.

Gotcha, I'm in Arkansas just this side of Memphis. Always hunted with others having dogs and decided to get a pup and train her. She's almost 5 months now and doing very well. I'm hoping to get her out on a few dove hunts this year and then have her ready for ducks by next year. She may make a couple trips to the blind this winter but it'll prolly be more observational this season.

I am farther east than Todd in Oklahoma. I am just about 30 minutes from West Arkansas, just west of Siloam Springs. I hunt small water too. Fairly large ponds. I picked up a lease this year because it was open. Two large ponds. Lots of potential. Last year I picked up a good goose pond. My waterfowl hunting has grown leaps and bounds.

Just picked up a new layout blind. They are on sale at BassPro for $115. It is the BP brand but I only have one field that I need a layout blind so it wont get used much. Even then, looks like a nice blind. I also bought a Winchester Super X pump this year. Got it used but it had only seen three hunts.

My hunting partners.... The Lab is actually just a ranch dog that lives on our ranch. She has never been trained but is an incredible retreiver. I keep threatening to bring her home to work with her but she is not a pup so it would take a lot of work. She will go after ducks fast... The Golden was purchased to be a duck dog. She didnt work out at all. She trained easy enough but is really, really lazy. That was a let down. She is about 80lbs and beautiful but never wants to leave the house. You have to pick her up to put her in the truck. She turned 3 in July. Just a pet now... Anyone need a full blood golden? :D
