Tominator
I just got done reading the new laws for deer permits here in Ohio. If I'm reading it correctly, you can only use 1 antlerless deer tag per county you hunt in. So if you're hunting in a 4 deer county, you can only buy 1 $15 tag, the other 3 have to be the $24 tag. Seems like a money grab to me. I personally think the state has over harvested over the last few years, so maybe this is a way to bring the doe numbers back up? WHISKEYSWAMP
I thought the same thing about the money deal... I don't see it as trying to increase the herd since more tags can be used the entire season. there does seem to have been an over harvest of does in some parts of the state, but so far around me the doe numbers are pretty good. The property owners I hunt on usually control how many does they want taken so that has definitely helped.
WStreblo
Ohio Hunters--Money Grab I don't mind a reduced kill number this year... It's never bothered me that only one buck can be killed. What chaps me (living close to the border) is the number of our of state hunters killing any deer they see. Out of state licenses are too cheap in my book.
elkoholic
Sometimes you just have to wonder about the thinking that goes on when hunting regulations are drawn up. The nine dollar difference in tag fees would not be much of a deterrent to tag sales nor is it much of a money grab. I would consider it a low cost way to continue hunting if the rest of my tags were filled. My other thought is, if the doe population is getting low I would hope most of the hunters would realize the situation and hold off on shooting a doe. It appears many states have allowed an unsustainable doe harvest and need to cut back.
Tominator
Good point Whiskey. I see where you can take a total of 9 deer if you want to or are able to jump around the counties and play the game. Also, I didn't look real hard, but did they do away with the urban zones? I can remember paying the $10 tag to hunt these areas, and those tags were good for the entire season. Those were the days.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I'm pretty sure they did away with the urban zones... Yes, I hunt 3 counties and could take 9 deer if I wanted. My goal each year is to take 2-3 doe if the population is there, but I rarely take more than 1 doe off the same property.

wtnhunt
Think I would have to agree with Dave here Chris. Really does not seem like a money grab to me. Prices of everything unfortunately are going up. Our state is right opposite in regards to what you are allowed for does, your archery and ml'er license purchase includes allowance for 3 does per day with no additional tag purchases. For just $21 you can get a type 94 supplemental license that allows you to take 3 does per day during the nearly 2 month long firearm season. Tominator
Sometimes you just have to wonder about the thinking that goes on when hunting regulations are drawn up. Right. That's my main point I guess. Why the difference in tags this year? You can take more deer overall if you buy the more expensive tags. There has to be a reason as to why they cut down on the antlerless tags, but allow you to take more deer. Then again, maybe I'm reading the regs. wrong. I wonder what the difference in revenue is or will be this year. I know $9 won't deter some, but it will others, and I dare say, it may even promote some to take deer illegally as a form of a perceived "retribution" to the state. Rhino
Could have been worse...could have raised the price on all the anterless tags to $24. They're $25/anterless tag in Missouri but no limit on number of tags you can buy except the limits of your hip pocket.
Stinger-Hunter
I am jealous. I am always hunting out of state (indiana or Minnesota) and I regularly pay $150 for an either/or and always $75 for an additional doe tag. I need to move out of Illinois with their gestapo hunting regulations.
