SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Yep, they lost but my Dawgs won yesterday so I'm good. In all honesty I'm a bigger college football guy. But I gotta root for the home team, well except the Hawks. Yeah that Jets game was insane!

The Bug House
Not at all. It's modern pro sports that I think are eating up the minds of Americans. And btw, I include most college stuff as pro. Tractor pulls, shooting sports and the like make up maybe 1/10 of one % of our sports. I also don't put down people who Play sports - hunting, skiing, golf, softball leagues, bowling, etc. Getting out there and competing or just getting out there is good. It's those arm chair quarterbacks who live and die by their teams, who fill their heads with useless facts, meaningless statistics and trivia about the players and who can not have a rational conversation without getting Loud or sarcastic and who don't pay much attention to the world their marriages and there families because of their games that I think are a big problem in this country. There are Waaay to many of them IMO. Well yea, but it's not just sports IMO.
Ultradog
I still can't wrap my head around how we went from foot ball to this I could quote a few old platitudes for you, like; "All things in moderation" or "there is a time and place for everything." or "all things are lawful but not all things are helpful" or even "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted..." If there is time for sports here can there there not be even One time to dennigrate sports? Must we all enjoy your games? Can no one criticize them? Must those who think them bad sit in silence? What about SouthernGAHuntings remark about people not speaking their minds for fear of criticism and political correctness? I am an opinionated man. And I boldly speak my mind when I have something to say. Sometimes that ruffles feathers. That's just how it goes...
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
I still can't wrap my head around how we went from foot ball to this Heh, I could give you a few reasons, none of them good. But like they say, "If you build it they will come", and like I say " If you stop scratching at it, it won't itch!" . It's dinner time boys and girl. See ya later! Hope your teams are doing well! Ravin R10 man
Ultradog, it has been said that in the U.S. all you need to do is provide an entertainment outlet and snacks, and most are unaware of what is happening within our Government. Some here are fully aware, and others to some or little extent. I'll not jump on your opinion towards the sports driven madness, I do not follow it that much, or care to. It's just not that important. I did however listen to Green Bay lose on the radio Sunday, but it would not have bothered me to have missed it. I don't go on to sports forums and stir up trouble - there's a time and place for everything. But I will weigh in on venues where sports have nothing to do with the topics at hand. I figure if people can talk of sports then I can be critical of sports. I have seen a couple of boards go down in flames because my team can beat your team, etc, etc. I do think that the over abundance of sports is a detriment to this country. And if I don't say it who will?
wtnhunt
Interesting thread. Suppose it could be split and moved to two different rooms, sports and politics. Surprised a lounge mod did not already move it. Far as games go, I did catch a little of the niners packers game last night while I was cooking supper. Nice to have a window through our kitchen to see the tv in our living room. Pretty decent game what I was able to watch of it. I used to watch a lot of football, not so much in the past 15 years or so, usually end up in a tree when the games are on on Sunday afternoons. With regards to society and what if any place pro sports have in it; there are a lot of problems with society, that discussion probably should go in a thread by itself and not hijack this thread which clearly had nothing to do with where it has gone. Maybe that argument/discussion could be started where it belongs in the political room rather than in this thread.
