Ravin R10 man
The corn is starting to get cut off here now, that may help, as those fields are adjoining the property. We have seen the deer behavior change, they will not enter a standing corn field because sight and hearing are impaired by doing so. Pretty easy pickings for a wolf. Instead, deer here will only use the edge until the corn is out, then they are all over it. winter wheat is in, couple weeks it should be pulling in deer Edited September 25, 2013 by Mathews XT Man

Rhino
In MO trying to add some points for the team. Man it's hot!!! Saw a fawn 1st afternoon. 2nd afternoon saw 11 deer hunting the edge of a big soybean field. 1 mature 8 point ~300 yards away. Only deer in range was a 1.5 year old 5 point at ~8 yards. Figures the way I've been snake bit so far. Front moving through today with rain this afternoon. Cooler temps moving in tonight and finally something beside a wind with east in it should help for the next few days. This afternoon may be a rain out though. Ravin R10 man
Just checked my lease land cam..nothing much showing up there, pretty much what the ladies told me they have seen, pulled the 4 cams at home and pretty much same thing scrubs and a few does, cold front moving thru with rain and wind, hope to go set if it blows over. good luck Rhino, somebody gotta get our Team rollin Edited September 28, 2013 by Mathews XT Man
Rhino
Front moving through sure made a difference here. Chalk up 5 more points for the team. I bagged 2 does yesterday afternoon hunting trails going to a soybean field. 1st doe at 12 yards. 2nd doe 10 minutes later at 23 yards. I'll post the pic and scan my tag for the entry after I return home on Oct. 6th. Time to look for a mature buck now.
Rhino
good luck Rhino, somebody gotta get our Team rollin Not only that Martin...which like I posted above, I got the 5 point start in the bag...we gotta get all our teammates chiming in with how their hunts are going too when they crank up their hunting. Rhino
Been so hot I've been spending late afternoons glassing fields for potential stand locations rather than sitting in a stand. With the exception of one afternoon while glassing fields, seeing mostly very young bucks, does, & fawns. One afternoon we got some light rain and a mature 10 point showed up. Set a new stand to hunt him the following day. For now...got my son & a buddy of his out hunting though. They haven't seen too much in the heat. Thankfully it looks like that will change tomorrow with a front moving through. If they're right, I be in a stand again.
Ravin R10 man
Sat at my lease land for 3 1/2 hours 25to 30 mph winds with a low coming in...I got skunked!.. got down and there are 15 deer out in the middle of the field well up wind of me, they ran right in front of my Gator as I came across the top on my way out. Rhino
Sounds like my afternoon Martins. Saw 2 gobblers & 2 coons. Put the boys on the best 2 stands for the wind. One missed a doe & the other didn;t get one close enough. One big 10 seen at ~250 yards.
Ravin R10 man
with the wet weather Sat..we chased geese and bagged 4...checked a duck pond we used to shoot woodies on...may sit this eve, if it don't rain... I did sit..had two small bucks sparring under me..seen several does..then the cold front moved in, temps dropped 20 degrees in 10 minutes..was getting late, so I got down as itr loked like rain...started the Gator and down it came..hit my wipers and turned on the heater..nice warm dry ride home Edited October 7, 2013 by Mathews XT Man

Rhino
OK teammates...posted my doe pic...well my double does & one of my doe tags in the contest deer entry thread. Got home ~5:00 yesterday afternoon. Didn't get much chance to hunt the last few days I was up there. To many farm projects we needed to get done before my buddy's family arrived. He's real fired up about his family going up there to spend a few days with him on the farm. Spent a lot of time cleaning up the house to spic and span shape along with the barn. Had some yard work projects too, not to mention hanging a few more stands. I'm headed back to Missouri on 10/24. Not sure how long I'll be there next time. May have to take a few days break but I hope to be able to spend as much time in a stand as possible from 10/25 to 11/20. That's the time to get serious about killing mature bucks. Before that trip I may get a chance or 2 to hunt a small place here in MS. Other than that, I'll be practicing.
Ravin R10 man
Points are good!!....it's 80 here and I want to go sit, but we do have a good wind...unfortunately, south is not a good wind for most of my stands Edited October 10, 2013 by Mathews XT Man
