Just checking in. Archery opener was last Saturday. I've been out hunting elk, but have nothing but exercise to my credit. Then there is time spent in the mountains which makes it all worth it. Have to work the next three days but will be off all next week chasing elk, but will keep my eyes open for a good buck. I will not get serious about deer hunting until October, but if an opportunity arises, priorities could change. Good hunting to all!

Opening weekend was fairly uneventful for me but one of my wheelchair buddies killed a mid 130s 10pt. Grim Reaper tipped him over in less than 40 yards within view from his ground blind.

I am already having to hunt based on the neighbors because of their atv use for getting to and from their stands. 15 bowhunters on 160 acres. Luckily they pass year/half scrub bucks.

That is so awesome to hear of your buddies kill!!!! My best friend is wheel chair bound we used to hunt together before his accident, due to his limitations now it makes it extremely hard. I know he misses it bad.

Glad to hear someone had some luck. Good for getting his buck, but bad for the yellow jacket nest. I got to watch a bear dig out a yellow jacket nest this past week while elk hunting. It was a comical scene as the bear would occasionally let out a howl when it got stung in a sensitive spot and swat at the wasps. I was over a hundred yards away and watching through binos and was not sure what was going on at first and then the bear pulled the nest out of the hole and ate it. I assume it was for the larvae, but it is hard to believe that it was worth it with all those stings. That was probably the highlight of my elk hunting so far this year. That and having a bull moose within 15 yards this morning.

Have to give my knees a rest tomorrow and maybe look at sitting in the climber on Monday for a little deer hunting. Happy hunting.
