Thanks guys!

I've been hunting all week and just now catching up on our teams efforts. Congrats to rhine and Wooley - Great Deer Boys!

Been seeing a lot of 130-140 bucks, but all either running does and wouldn't stop for an ethical shot or just out of range. I never quit till the last day of the season. I have another public draw area to hunt starting Friday. We'll see what happens.

Last night I why I deer hunt! No shot but just unreal. I watched splitter and B3 on a hot doe for 30 minutes. A few other good bucks joined(small up to mid 120's) Unbelievably, B3 relented to Splitters presence and stayed in the background. I've never witnessed two deer this big except in Kansas. Last night I why I passed that buck earlier this week! I apologize but not posting pictures but if I kill one of them it will be worth the wait!!

Tonight was another great night. Odd 8 and goalpost showed up along with 3 other bucks and a pile of does. Goalpost came to 48 yards. I'm really struggling with him. I've already passed a bigger deer. He's 4.5 and I passed him last season. I'd like to see another year but I'm worried his habits are a death wish.

The new public area Im hunting is bizzare! I have to wear waders to get across a canal. I've NEVER wore waders while hunting - as if my pack wasn't heavy enough! My knee boots barely made it Friday night and with rain all day today I'm sure it will be deeper. The rut is about over - shotgun season starts Friday, but it's all about my 11 year old son and deer camp. He'll have to score before I get a chance. However, I spent 5 hours and multiple puncture wounds putting a double man 16 foot stand in a perfect spot by my self! The spot sets up perfect but ive avoided it for years because the only suitable tree is a giant locust tree on private ground I hunt. My son is tired of blinds and wants to get in a tree. The things we do for out kids!

I hunted Friday afternoon on the ground, wind was still blowing pretty strong. Did not see any deer. Was planning on hunting today but severe weather warning here 50 mph winds and thunder storms. Now this week opens ML season again for a week. Just have to wait until Sunday to hunt again.

Saw 7 this morning. One nice buck chasing - out of bow range though. Passed on some smaller bucks and a doe with fawns. Although I had good action this morning I've had enough of the public ground. Dang dogs running deer through the woods screwed up the evening hunt and had enough wading through waist deep canal water and nearly getting stuck in the mud. Back to private ground till the shotgun opener Friday. I hope the rain stays away.

I managed to fill my regular season buck tag today with a nice 6'er!

I wasn't even going to go out because of the weather and no sightings lately. I froze my butt off for 4hrs before this fella came running in from behind me right around noon.

When I stood up to grab my smokepole my treestand let out a God awefull groan and he ran away from me.

Unfortunately for him, he didn't run far enough before he stopped, and I dropped 'em in his tracks! Not to toot my own horn... but I don't miss with this gun!

As I was gutting him, I had 4 antlerless stroll by me at 20yds, and on my way dragging him out I bumped into 4 more antlerless on the trail home. I can still go out for late ML season but only got the antlerless tag so I'll see how cold it is,lol

Looks like shed season will come early again this year! :)

I'll get some tag pics tomorrow and get him entered in the contest thread. I'm glad it's over even though gun season's only a week old!
