fly checking in - sorry I'm a little late my season doesn't start till October 1st so the contest hasn't been in my range finder. Thanks to hoosierhunter for poking me with that PM stick! (LOL) Good luck to everyone this season - I'm hoping Rhine gets the biggest of all! I've been fortunate enough to harvest a 120 inch or bigger buck 5 out of the last 6 years. Hopefully my luck will hold out. I was drawn to hunt a small public ground area the second week of November that holds a ton of deer. Scouted it last month and saw about 30 does and smaller bucks over a 3 hour period of time. I hunted it in mid-October in 2011 and saw an absolute GIANT! Passed on a 120 inch 8-point at 20 yards waiting for the big one. Unfortunately I couldn't get the big boy in bow range. Hopefully the rut will improve my chances this season. My vote goes to Clydesdales!

I just got her cleaned up. She was 30 yards quartering away. I put the rage through both shoulders. She went 45 yards and piled up. The yote was at 16 yards and I pinned him to the ground. His final thought was to bite my arrow in half, the SOB. I think I saw seven total tonight. It's nice to start the season off right! Now the buck is earned and its gametime!

I thought you didnt like rage?

I don't but in an urban setting I need to put a deer down extremely fast to avoid unwanted attention and a 2 inch cut does that. I've killed two deer so far and the blood trail has not been any better than my Muzzys. My buddy killed one tonight with the extremes and she painted the grass. I will shoot a few more, but my main concern is penetration. Yes I've passed through but it's been on does and not a buck yet.

Atta boy Hoosier! Way to get us on the board!

Thanks for the comments about the cancer guys. Didn't mean to post it for sympathy, rather to express how excited for this season I am, but I do appreciate it.

I got some stands in trees Saturday. Took off from deer prep on Sunday and went dove hunting. Work day at my new place this coming Saturday and then I'll be finishing hanging stands on my old place Sunday evening. It's getting closer!

Good luck to those of you that are hunting already!

Congrats on the doe kill hoosier! That was quick!

You're not messing around this year.

Maybe you already posted this in another thread and I'm missing it, but do you have any cam pics yet of a #1 target buck this year? Congrats again, and great shot!

Yes I do but I haven't posted him anywhere. Trying to avoid prying eyes. Not sure if he's huntable early because the cam in his area hasn't been checked for 3 weeks and I won't until the day before season. I have other mature deer but my focus is him only.
