WStreblo
I'm going night hunting, not for animals but for idiots. Next person who jiggles the door knobs at the house at 3am and scares the family while I'm out of town for work is gonna be hunted down. Going to hide my truck then dip into the tree line and wait. The VP wants people to scare off intruders by shooting a shotgun into the air... Well you got it Mr. Biden. The only difference is that my 3.5 inch 12ga turkey load will have an abrupt stop in about 20 yds.
redkneck
Wow, good luck with that! Never had a problem here, rarely lock my doors except at night most of the time lol. I can imagine your anxiety dealing with that and worrying for your family while you're gone. Hope you catch him.

hoosierhunter
Night Hunting Run a trail camera. Buy a black flash seriously. They will never have a clue. I also doubt they are trying to scare you. That sounds like a break in attempt if it were unlocked. Make sure the wife knows how to handle a gun. This is serious stuff. smha6784
Night Hunting About 5-6 months ago me and my neighbor were having problems, similar to this. When we were kids we would ring the doorbell and run, and we did it to our own friends n family they knew it was us. Well kids today will go to your door and jiggle door handle and beat on door and run, what they were doing to us was beating on the side of the house. Talk about scare you half to death. 3 am sound asleep then it sounds like a wall is coming down and ur baby starts crying hysterically. My first reaction is grab the gun and go. Me and my damn neighbor bout shot each other cause we were sneaking around looking for the culprit. Once we figured out it was kids(15-17), we got em, and it's safe to say they won't be back . The Bug House
I can relate ... I work 12 hour shifts, often 1900 - 0700. My job is 60 miles from home, and my wife is home with 3 kids and shes 7 months pregnant. We live in a small town (>3000 people) yet somehow I see more than our fair share of scumbags walking around, and we've had several instances of attempted breakins and cars being burglarized. The next town over (~9000 people) has a raging Heroin problem and widespread poverty. This has led to a large increase in crime in the area, including an attempted murder ... on Main St. ... in broad daylight. There are at least a half dozen Pharmacies that have been held up at gunpoint in the past 18 months or so. Last winter I noticed tracks in the snow coming from a rear neighbors house (Its a rental) leading from their deck, directly into my backyard, where it was evident someone was sitting on my kids swing which faces the rear of our house. This freaked out my wife, and pi**ed me off something fierce. I filed a report with the PD, hung a No Trespassing sign, and installed a security light on the back of the Garage. When I pounded on his door, he answered in his boxers and wifebeater. Looked like he hadn't seen daylight in a week. I explained to him the situation, and in no uncertain terms explained that our little Neighborhood Watch group would hold him personally responsible for ANY crime committed in the area. And that is the last thing he would want. I also complained to his landlord, quite pugnaciously, that we'd not accept this sort of tenant in our neighborhood. He moved out about 4 months later. My wife is intimidated by the shotgun, and is afraid she'll panic and shoot one of the kids .... but she is willing to learn. I'm looking for a youth model .410 with more than a one shell capacity for her. For now, I've secured the house quite well, and she lights up the property like the sun when I work nights. The good news is that many of our immediate neighbors (we live in a small neighborhood, a circle with about 12 houses or so) are young families and we look out for each other. One is a Canine Officer, parks his cruiser in the driveway. That still didn't deter a home invasion attempt about 6 months ago. We are a dwindling population of middle class around here, as far as we're concerned .. it's war. The zombie appocalypse is upon us, it's come in the form of Oxy Contin and Heroin. WStreblo
Night Hunting It's sickening any more. I was born and raised in the country and I can't remember a day that the doors were locked. Seems like everywhere you turn someone is getting killed or robbed for somebody's next high. I'm confident it won't be the North Koreans, Russians, or Syrians that kill us all... It will be the meth heads, coke snorters, and crackheads that kill us all. smha6784
Night Hunting I see this madness on a daily basis. It's disgusting and there's no escaping it. Me and the wife don't leave the house without a side arm. We both have our CCP.
