smha6784
So.....who's getting a 17 win super mag? I still can't find .22 rounds where in the world would I find .17 super mags lol
dbHunterNY
thought about it but don't really need it. looking at one the other day.... the Savage B-Mag that is. not the smoothest bolt but no doubts it'll be a shooter. was going to get one for woodchucks and other varmints in areas closer to neighbors and where sound might be an issue. I've hit the areas hard enough with my 223 that not much is left to worry about. what little critters are left there I've dealt with. guess it's more of a want than a need right now I suppose. wtnhunt
Seems to be some hype around the round. Sister in law's ex husband told me he wanted one, does not seem to know what use he has for it other than to plink. Don't guess I see where there would be any advantage to owning one for me. I am curious how effective the round will be on yote sized predators though.
Ravin R10 man
I give up...WHO?.....j/k
redkneck
Yeah I wonder about the yote factor too William, and I need another rifle I don't shoot like a hole in my head. I once wanted a 22 mag, but after a box of rounds went through it I never shot it again, lol. But still you can't own TOO many guns!
Strut10
Have a pair of 5 Mags. The .17 Super is really not doing ANYTHING in 2013 that the 5 Mag wasn't doing over 44 years ago. Annnnnnnnnnd........................... I can get ammo for it.
redkneck
Have not looked at ammo availability on anything in a while Don. As for performance and old calibers it doesn't come close to a 17 rem, but good luck finding ammo for that one no doubt. Never owned a 5 mag, no clue how available it is, but I'd guess this new round will be a lot more available soon.
wtnhunt
But still you can't own TOO many guns! Cannot have too many. Still have a pretty good list of wants here, the 17 is not on that list. Cannot have too much ammo either.
Strut10
Last week, on Wednesday, I delivered a fellow a Savage B-Mag .17 WSM. He was all gushy about going prairie dog hunting with it. Friday I had a call-tag label from Savage to go back to his place and pick it up. I said to him "the .17 Super not so super ?" He said "piece of junk won't even fire !!" He had not put it back in the box yet and I got my first look at a B-Mag. DUDE !!!!!!!!! WHAT A PIECE OF PLASTIC JUNK !!!!!!!!! I think my little girl's Red Ryder weighs more !!!!!! I can't believe that they can't make these things fast enough to meet demand. It seriously had the same heft, look of quality and feel in my hands as a Crosman pump-up pellet gun you can get for $45 at Walmart.
redkneck
I haven't held a b mag yet Don. Sounds like a pos. Are they the only ones making 17 super rifles? I just liked the ballistics a lot more than the hmr.
dbHunterNY
Seemed like not much different than a model93 to me. Just a cheap gun. I've known some knuckle heads though that blame the gun and shouldn't. Anyone I've known to shoot it said it shoots pretty good. Did he get to fire it at all? Wonder what the problem was. terry264
Think I'll sit tight until they come out with this case chambered in 5 mm (.204) or in .22 cal. It's almost inevitable that they will and there will be much more bullet weight choices. Interesting cartridge though.

Who would have thought a nail gun blank would be used as a production round?
