What kind of powder do you guys like to shoot in you inline smoke poles? I picked me up a good inline back a few months ago and was wondering if I shoukd go with loose powder or the pellets? I have been shooting the old cap and ball up untill last year when I borrowed an inline to hunt with. I would still be useing it if the nipple hadnt have blown out of the thing. I found a good deal on a traditions inline so I bought it, now wondering what type of powder to use, bullet recomendations are welcome to.

powder prefferance

Hodgdon Triple seven 50 grain pellets, CCI primers, and Powerbelt aero tips! I shoot 150 grains of power with a 295 grain power belt out of a break action CVA. I filled the synthetic stock with lead to lightin the recoil, she was a bruiser.

I once bought some Jim Shockey powder because it was on clearance. I realized why after the fact that stuff burns nasty and leaves build up in barrel had to swab after every shot.

Had a bad experience with Remington primers too.

I miss my old side lock. It was the first gun my dad gave me.

Next powder I buy to try will be blackhorn. Still using loose pyrodex with our tc black diamond, works well with that gun and I have quite a bit left still. Using triple 7 loose powder with the accura. Personally I like loose powder being able to load in the increments the gun likes, but can see the convenience factor of the pellets.

Agree with the above on the shockeys gold stuff, but I paid full price at a local shop. Stuff is not so great.

Have tried different bullets and always came back to the tc xtp mags. I use the 240 grain with both our ml'ers with very good results. Does not hurt that they are not nearly as expensive as a lot of others either.

I tried Blackhorn 209, and it wouldn't go BANG on my ML, went back to 777 loose, and gun goes bang all the time. Disappointed for sure.

not sure if you did but if you contact them their customer service is pretty good. told me the exact primer to use for best results and sent instructions with photos they made up for making sure my TC was properly cleaned for best 209 performance and accuracy.

They have suggestions regarding the type of breach plug for use with their product. Apparently some breech plug designs don't allow for consistant ignition. They also recommend against special muzzleloader primers. They say to use the regular 209 shotgun primers.

Blackhorn all the way! I use 100 gr of blackhorn by volume and a hornady 250 sst. Smashed a 5pt'er at 10 yards from my tree 2 years ago. The deer was toast, he didn't go anywhere. I am not sure of the sst's out of my shotgun as I feel I didn't get a good blood trail/ exit would, but the deer dropped 40 yards from the hit. I will keep using the sst's in my ML until they give me a reason to switch.

Picked up a can of blackhorn to try out when I ordered primers and powder for reloading from cabelas. After reading the label on the blackhorn not so sure it will be a good option for the TC black diamond. Breech plug setup my not be right for that powder.

The loose 115 gr charge of triple 7 in the accura with the xtp's has proved to be a very good load here. Shot I took on this years buck was right at 170 yards, hit the spine just above the shoulder and bullet did not exit but was in the skin on the off side. Recovered bullet looked like a giant corelokt, perfect mushroom. Usually do not recover the bullets.

Last year's buck was the same combo shot was under 100 yards, left a hole the size of my thumb in the heart and massive amount of blood.

The buck I took in 2010 was also taken with the xtp mag bullet, but with 120 grains of loose pyrodex from the TC black diamond. That was an under 40 yard shot and again a heart shot with the same results as last year's buck.

William...........Google the Blackhorn powder and your T/C Black Diamond together to see what others are posting about it. I am sure the two show up in a review somewhere. Here are a couple quick ones.

Thanks for that. Definitely will NOT be trying the blackhorn powder out of the black diamond.

I am shooting 80 grs (weight) of Blackhorn 209 with CCI Magnum primers. All of that is pushing a 250gr Barnes TEZ out of my TC Pro Hunter.

I shoot 3 shots then run a bore snake through the barrel. She will shoot 100 yard groups around 1" if I do my part of controlling the trigger, best was around 3/4".
