Ravin R10 man
A doe I killed opening day; Up on my lease land Sat eve. had this doe come in several times, but was very spooky..she would not stay long enough to give me a shot. One time I was at full draw, she stopped right in my shooting lane in front of the only 2" maple there, it was right in back of her shoulder crease, maybe could have threaded it in there broadside, but I let her walk. Off she headed out to the field with the 3 smaller bucks that came in with her..about an hour past and she comes in from the field back to the bait, I get ready and draw as she starts to clear the leaf canopy..quartering away, I settle the pin on her last rib and touch the release. She kicks and all I seen was a brown streak heading away from the field, hear the arrow clicking as she heads deeper into the woodlot..I got down and found blood and make a circle around to where i last saw her, as light is fading fast...I come across the blood trail and get out my led flashlight, and start tracking about 100 yards out from the stand..go about 15 yards and find my arrow, pools of blood every few feet, and there she is. I tag her get oput my Glenn's Deer Handle and slowly drag her back to the field..5 stops, and sweat soaked... and a half hour later, I'm loading her up and heading back to camp. I got back, and Slash had second doe down, so with rain coming, and a blood trail that almost went dry... some tough tracking, we did find her just as the rain started. Rhino
So far 2 does down for me Tim. Haven't seen a mature buck while hunting yet. I did see a real nice one while running trail cams ~2:30 one afternoon. Heading back to MO this coming Wednesday for a longer hunt of ~10 or 12 days. Time & weather is getting right for the mature bucks to start moving around more. Here's a link to my double doe kill in MO. http://www.realtree.com/forums/bowhunting/112767-doe-double-mo.html
Straight Shooter
Its no big racked buck but this ole girl was a good kill for me and pretty memorable. She made #50 with a bow and was my wife's first tracking job. I text my wife right after the shot and told I had killed one. She was so excited and wanted to come and help me. I knew where she went down, so it was just a matter of my wife finding her. I was laughing at her because she didn't realize how much blood would come from a deer, Her words were, "My God at all the blood":) My wife is from Russia, so she has never experienced anything like this until she met me. I was very proud of her because she followed the blood trail straight to her. She was still astonished by the amount of blood that came from her. After we found the Doe, then the fear of being lost in the dark hit my wife. We are only 200 yards behind our house and the area I hunt is so thick and no visibility of the house lights. LOL It was a fun hunt and evening.

hoosierhunter
pics and stories I do have a miss on my #1 buck on Oct 4th. He came out to our standing beans with 10 minutes of legal shooing light left on an overcast day, which made it very dark. He stopped at 57 yards oblivious to me and I put it just over his back as he dropped out of the way. Talk about being sick to my stomach. He's a 5.5 year old and it's my first encounter on stand although I have 3 years of pictures. Believe it or not I'm even his core area and I still can't get a daylight picture of him in 3 years running 4-6 cams on about 300 acres. To make matters worse I haven't gotten a pic since the miss. Opportunities like that just don't happen given his nocturnal pattern.
Ravin R10 man
Sat Friday eve, got in stand at 5 pm. At 6 pm a 6pt with no brows and a small fork walks in...at 6:15 I see a big body deer cross a cut lane 80 yards out, and is heading towards me. He stops out at 40 yards to look and listen, the two little bucks see him and they get all charged up and start clicking antlers and this brings the 8pt right in. He steps behind a balsam, and I come to full draw as he will be walking from right to left and be broadside at 10 yards..he steps out, I settle the pin right behind his shoulder and sqease the release....THWACK!! the four blade muzzy eats him up! He runs 40 yards out the way he came in and stops and looks back...he is doing the fast "sideways tail flicker", sure sign of a mortally wounded deer...he starts walking off slowly, I sat in my stand for about 20 minutes to give him some time... get down and walk back to gator and get a flashlight, come back to where he stopped and right away, I got good blood, I mean somebody pulled the drainplug kinda blood trail!! I figured he's gonna be right here...then the blood almost goes to nothing...then a huge puddle..shoot I've jumped him... cant tell which way he went...I hang my HSS vest orange side out, on a tree and back out.., dont want to jump him again. Come back in the a.m. and I see a trail that splits, I head out directly ahead, no blood trail now, as we had some rain overnight, nothing...I go left and 20 yards there he is...only thing a bear,(which was on cam), overnight, had found him and took a bit of the hind quarter and opened up my entrance hole and ate the innards...I know its not the biggest buck, but this is the best Ive seen all fall, the buck I let go last year was much bigger than this one, and he is nowhere to be found. Im not going to have much time to sit, as crops are not out yet up here, and I'm going to be very busy soon. A bird in hand as I see it. Griz
Well Tim it's been a while since I have been on here and season for me has started out really rough for me...I got my arm broke back on the first of Oct. so needless to say I didnt get to hunt much. Our Muzzle Loader season kicked off and here I was sitting at home. On the last day, Last Evening I was able to get some help so I could get out and do some hunting.I was set up in a box blind that we had put out about 5 years ago.At 4:15pm I had a Buck moving threw the thicket and moving fast. He hit one of the shooting lanes and came to a dead stop. I was already on him. He stood there looking my way working his nose. At this time I didn't have a clean shot. What seemed like forever the Buck finally took a step forward and gave me a shot so I let my CVA sound off. After the smoke cleared I was glassing that area. I saw him kicking and thats when the shakes hit me and my heart started thumpin'.Thank God for friends. He had to help me get my CVA laoded up. Once I saw he wasnt going anywhere. I had to claim down. Well my heart did but I was still shaking so bad I couldnt get up.I sat there for about 40 minutes and then went out to look at the Buck I had just shot.As I walked up on him I saw he was bigger then I thought then the shakes came back into play...All I can say was THANK YOU LORD!!!!He was a 16 pointer but he had one tine broke which made him a 15 pointer...I am still pumped over the hunt. Something I will never forget...Here's pics of my wall hanger...
