swhughes81
U all are pretty helpful. Ok I am planning on putting a stand out tomorrow for the weekend. I live in Indiana I normally put my stands out in the summer but my in laws just bought this piece of property. It's not been hunted but once during youth season. Anyway it's almost a perfect rectangle of woods, 23 acres to the east is a major highway and my in laws house running along the north is a gravel road to the west is a cut corn field and to the south is another road but it dead ends into brookville lake about 2 miles down the road. On each side of the roads the gravel and dead end road are ag fields (beans and corn) and timber. I was going to put a stand in the south western part of the property. There are a lot of hickory and oaks and a creek running thru. Also the biggest thing I counted 15 rubs along the south west corner by road and along the west close to corn field. HOWEVER they are all from last year and later. None that I could see from this year. Is it still sound like a good place like bucks still visit I was going to put a hang on stand and camera out tomorrow evening for the weekend what do u all think? My in laws said they seen a real nice buck cross the gravel road and into the north part of the woods however it's as thick as can be like a place a big mature buck would hang out so I Don't want to Get to close in case they bedding back there. Again sorry so long but u guys are awesome! Thanks!
Ravin R10 man
go with the 'old" sign..that tells you they hang out there, hopefully if you can get in about 30 yards off the field, and find a staging area. stay out of the thick stuff..you may bump that big boy right on out
swhughes81
question again! Thanks man that's exactly what I was thinking they are staging up there right before dark to head out into field what I like also is gettin to the stand should be good in and out because I will walk from my in laws house right to stand straight path there without ever getting close to the thick stuff
whitetailfreak55
Yep usually they'll go back to they're rub line. That should be his core area during the rut as long as its the same buck. Good luck
