I do roasts all the time. Find a rub you enjoy and apply (might I suggest 1 packet of Lipton dry onion soup mix). Next wrap in foil, do not wrap it tight for you need room for meat juices that are created. However you should seal the foil tight so those juices cannot escape. Roast in the oven at 350 until the center is the temperature you desire, don't go too far over 165 or it will be tough. Now here is the important part! After it done, unwrap and let it sit on the counter for 15 min. before you slice it or the meat may crumble.

There are all sorts of way to season a roast. Another one I use quite a bit is a turkey injector. Fill the injector with your favorite marinate and shoot the the meat full of it. Wrap and cook like I described above.

I don't do a lot with whole roasts. I'll take them sometimes and slice them, pound the steaks a little with a tend hammer, then season, flour, and fry for a minute in hot oil just long enough get a good crust and throw them in the crock pot with some onion and cream of mushroom for a few hours. Serve with biscuits over rice. Good stuff.

I use an injector. you can stuff them too with peppers, onions, and other stuff. I then fire up the grill high as it will go and sear the whole outside quickly... then do as said with foil in the oven or on the grill. you can throw in with the roast some carrots, potatoes, etc. with some garlic and seasoning on them. i'll sometimes finish cooking it uncovered on higher heat with a dry rub on the outside to create a nice crust on the outside. it should be nice and round, otherwise any tips will tend to get overcooked and tough.

Have a recipe my aunt sent me I have not tried yet that is supposed to be great for roasts, will go back and copy it from the email when I find it. Usually slice the hams into steaks. Hear the neck roasts make good roasts, but never tried.

Use Lipton beefy onion soup mix and brown gravy mix with roasts in the crock pot, always add a little worcestershire too.

Not sure bud. I hear it goes great with a can of Coke?

Hey, look who's back around. Welcome back Randy.

had a venison pot roast last night. 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, 1 packet of Lipton Onion Soup mix, little water. sear/browned the roast on all sides. put that in with the previous mentioned ingredients, plus potates, carrots, little bit of an onion, and other stew veggies of choice. cook on low crockpot setting slowly for the day (8 hours or so). turned out pretty good. ...add just enough water so that the mix will stay at a gravy consistency.
