compound bows

Pick out a real knowledgeable dealer then pick out a bow. Nothing will perform up to it's expectations unless it is set up properly for you.

There are a lot of good brands out there. The brand isn't nearly important as the fit and set up. Stick with a major brand. Not a spin off or unheard cheaper copy of something.

Personally I shoot Mathews but I have friends who shoot other brands which were properly set up for them. They are as happy with theirs as I am with mine.

I wouldn't buy a bow from E-Bay. Trying to get a dealer interested enough to work with you when he has regular customers who bought from him or her could be difficult.

Well also fwiw I wasn't suggesting buying a bow on Ebay (though I have) I just meant in response to your question if a bow was worth the money I just meant that odds are that your local shop is fairly competitive as far as price just because its easy in this day and age to pick up your phone and order a bow from cabellas or bps and have it the next couple days.

all the bows you've listed are comparable and worth the money. you can buy a bow from ebay. nothing wrong with doing that. you should have it setup by someone who knows what they are doing. I can poorly setup a $1000 bow and then work magic setting up a $400 bow. when shooting them both side by side you'd think the $1000 bow was an over priced piece of junk. that said you do get what you pay for. buy the best you can afford, get a skilled person to set it to fit you, and stick with it.

The point I was trying to make earlier was just going into a store and handling several bows isn't going to cut it. I would liken this to going into a shoe store and looking at sneakers. You find a pair you really like the looks of, the feel of and the price. You try them on and they are two sizes too small. You aren't comfortable and couldn't even walk across the street in them. You might turn down the best buy you could ever make.

When I bought my last bow I went to a local dealer and looked at everything in the store. I settled on two brands. The dealer took measurements etc. and asked me to come back the next day. He took the time to set these two bows up specificly for me I tried both bows out on his indoor range and picked my choice. I have never been disappointed. Both were set up with the rests and sights I wanted and to my draw length and the poundage I was comfortable with. The decision was mine alone. No high pressure just my personal preference.

Unlike a big box store clerk, my dealer is a world class shooter and really knows his trade. He has the credentials to prove it. Did I pay more? Maybe a little but he sells hundreds of bows annually and gets good prices on his inventory allowing him to be quite competitive pricewise. If I need service, have a warranty issue, or just an annual tune up he is there to do the job. This is worth the slight difference in the original cost. I have not needed warranty service but I know he is there for me. If you go to a big box store the clerk won't be there anymore. He either got moved to a different department or left entirely for another job.

I prefer to draw from experience.
