Whacked a good one...

I started vacation Saturday to do a little bowhunting. I went out Saturday evening and then again Sunday morning with very little deer activity. Sunday night I sat on a fence line between a thick bedding area and a picked cornfield. About 45 minutes before dark I could see a sapling shaking about 30 yards behind me, a couple minutes later the buck stepped out. He walked directly at me. There is an apple tree directly to my left and wouldn't you know it, he came and ate every apple that fell. I had him at 3-5 yards for almost 10 minutes. The upper branches on the tree were too thick to get a shot though. The buck slowly left with a full belly of apples and headed down the fence line. I got another glimpse of him about 40 yards down the line. So, I gave him a little more time to move further away and took out the ole grunt call. A couple short grunts and a long grunt did the trick. I could hear him coming back through the brush and I saw him at about 30 yards. He jumped the fence to investigate and I brought the Alphamax to full draw. He took a couple more steps and I let the slick trick headed carbon express rip. He ran about 75 yards in to the picked cornfield and took a dirt nap. This was my first Archery buck since William visited in 09.3faa02db-7264-4622-b131-abdb1aaf10e4.jpg

See a ladder stand behind ya, man wheres all the leaves on the trees. Little marsh back to the right?

Looks like a good big bodied deer. Congratulations Randy.

William that was across the road. This one was on the fenceline straight out across the river bottom from your favorite pine. About halfway across the cornfield on the right/back side. That was the actual stand I killed him from. Thought it would make a cool picture. The apple tree is blocked by me. Look in the "archery success" thread. I have a different pic in there and you can see the apple tree to the right of the stand. Edited by Randy
