AvonLKHunter
Hunted down at my farm in south east ohio last weekend and did not see one buck. Camera showed some nice ones but only at night. Almost like they are on lock down alittle early. Going back again this weekend hope the pattern changes. Anyone in Ohio seen any rut activity this week. Bucks here in Avon Lake are already locking down with a few hot does.
WHISKEYSWAMP
Seeing bucks during mid day more than the morning or evening around here.
WStreblo
Where are all the Bucks????? Seen a few bucks mid day on Sunday and hunted all day Monday an didn't see a thing. Bout 2-3 weeks ago I had a decent buck pushing a doe grunting every step but didn't act like she was in estrous. Rattling hasn't been working as it did earlier but the bucks I seen Sunday were runnin each other off so I don't why rattling isn't working. wtnhunt
Little bucks still chasing does all over here right now. Not seeing as many does, they are being a little cautious BUT some mature does are coming to grunts. Had a 2.5 year old fork grunting like crazy trying to herd a doe away from me this morning. MUDRUNNER
We've been seeing next to nothing in Illinois also. Been seeing deer driving to and from the farm, but once the sun is up they seem to disappear. My buddy has been hunting all day for the last three days, and has only seen 4 deer. Normally this time of year you can see 10-15 deer on a morning sit, but this year been lucky to see anything.
abrown
Seem like the bigger bucks are locked down here too. I had a nice buck chasing a doe almost run me over two evenings ago walking out from my stand, been seeing alot of younger bucks cruising. dbHunterNY
first older more cautious does are coming into estrous... the bucks are holed up with them in the thicker stuff. hunt travel routes between beds in the timber and i'm sure you'll see them. wtnhunt
Been hearing harvest numbers are down in this area. Also heard today that people are just not seeing deer like they expect to. Bright moon on these recent clear nights probably is not helping. That said, with our ml'er season in now I am hearing some shots each time I get out. Figure our state folks will blame the acorn crop, which is not what I would call a bumper crop this year.
dbHunterNY
people have said mast crops including apples haven't done well this year but I've seen enough to suggest otherwise. I will admit soft mast has done better than acorns and the like around here.
Tominator
Not able to get out at all this season, so I'm not seeing much from the stand obviously. Not seeing road kill (road kill I do see is does) or deer on the morning commutes either. My kids are reporting seeing little bucks here and there, but I've yet to see a whopper, dead or alive. PriceRacing35
Where are all the Bucks????? Hunted Wednesday in SW Missouri. It was 17 degrees as I left the house. Didn't see a deer until 930. Two young does. They came right under my stand. Fed to the corner of the field then they smelled my Tinks and took off. Should've sat all day. But I went and got lunch. At 1250 had a young 6 cruising a timbered ditch. Made it back to stand around 130. At 5pm I heard two deer crashing through the timber but it was just too thick to see. I saw only glimpses of white here and there. Right at dark a spike walked out and was steadily headed to the sanctuary that we leave untouched. As I left out farm. I made it maybe 3 miles and saw a 140" 10pt just standing in the ditch. I slowed down and he turned and took off. I counted 9 bucks of all ages on the way home. Rifle season opens tomorrow. Forecast of near 70 degrees, 20-40mph winds, and thunderstorms has me a little disappointed. But I'll be in the woods nonetheless.
