PotashRLS
The wind will be the killer on opener. Sustained at 10-20mph with gusts at 25mph. Snow on the way here tonight but only an inch or so forecasted. Long sit when there was not one single "shooter" buck on camera all year on the family property. Good times with family and friends always prevails. Hope everyone enjoys the longstanding tradition and begins a new tradition for a youngster! Rain moving out sometime overnight tonight and supposed to be a north wind both days. Temp supposed to be cool here, cool for us anyway. Calling for low to be around 20 Sunday morning with a 10-12 mph north wind, gonna have wind chills in the mid to low 10's, gonna have to get the boot blankets out. gzilla45
I hope you guys way up north did better than we did in the north central part of the state. There were hardly an deer killed in any of the camps around us. We had 10 guys hunting for a good part of the week and I bet we only saw 12-14 deer combined. PotashRLS
Poor season here too. Very odd year this year with a less than stellar rut. Neighbors were ill prepared for their once a year trip to their hunting land. With all the walking around they did (often lost ), they should have just visited a state park. gzilla45
We've had our fair share of wolves for quite a few years now. It's definitely changed the shape of hunting in our area.
wtnhunt
Poor season here too. Very odd year this year with a less than stellar rut. Hearing a lot of the same here and saw very poor activity during what should have been the peak of the rut. Went to tndeer.com yesterday and looked to see what others around were reporting and some of those guys are expecting to see rutting activity start here anytime now as if the rut has not started yet, but the primary rut here should be done. Usually see peak rut here the third week of November. Saw 9 antlerless on Thanksgiving morning. Does are herded up. The people I have talked with have pretty well all said the same, number of shots heard the first week of gun season were way down. Interested in seeing some harvest data. Next few weeks should be a good time to catch those late does coming in and those that missed being bred during the primary rut.
