SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
What's the average price that you guys have found these rifles going for? I have to watch the wallet but want to get a quality rifle for the old lady.
WStreblo
7mm-08 You can pick em up anywhere 275 for a youth model single shot ( 350 for a youth model bolt action ) all the way up to over a grand. Shop around and find her one that's a good feel for her.
LETMGROW
There are some great choices out there. One I would take a hard look at is the TC Venture. You are probably going to part with around $600 but you will have a quality gun which shoots well without a hitch. Savage used to be lower priced but lately their pricing has crept up to high levels without much improvement in overall quality. It seems as though since the government has taken another stab at gun control all the prices have taken a jump. SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
I was looking at a CVA today, heard they are a good dependable gun. Right now I'm just in the research and pricing phase right now. Thanks for the info though!!
WStreblo
7mm-08 I've always been a fan of a remington myself. From the 7mm-08's I've seen lately there is a pretty big curve in the pricing. Like I said I've seen youth model single shots in the mid 200 range and full size bolt rifles break 1200. Christmas time is the best time to find great deals on them that's for sure.
redkneck
Check out the Marlin xs7. She might favor the youth stock. Good luck.
wtnhunt
Depends on your preferences and on how much you want to spend. Think my favorite is still a model 700. Last I checked they could be found new for under $500.
SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Found a CVA from academy for under 200, who has one, or has shot one?
dbHunterNY
depends on the rifle model more than the caliber. how you hunt with it will determine what's best. I've got a stainless bolt action with a walnut stock. looks nice but it gets scratches here and there.
dbHunterNY
for just over $500 you can get a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 synthetic in 7mm-08. that's a nice gun.
