Turkeygirl
Well I've only been out twice this gun season so far: opening day and an afternoon on a day off. Was going to go out this AM but was tired from work the night before and slept in. Well I'm out doing barn chores and between 11am and 12pm I'm walking down to feed the chickens (does this story sound familiar) and am watching the hill in our woods and spot a deer bedded! I turn around and walk back to the house, grab my gun and vest and slugs. Go back out and walk back down, it's still bedded. I sit down but am shaking out of excitement so then I go prone on the ground and look through my scope, it's a doe, don't see any others. I put my crosshairs on her shoulder, I'm guessing somewhere between 50 and 70 yard shot, squeeze the trigger and she barely moved, dead in her bed! Went back to the house and got my knife and the gator, saw another one standing looking at her, never saw it before the shot. Anyway a nice medium sized doe to put my DMP on. And the kicker? Last year Nov. 27 (I keep a journal now) I shot a doe on this same hill a mere few feet below where this one was and saw that one as well while going to feed the chickens. CRAZY! And today was Nov. 26th so literally 1 year to the day!
