wtnhunt
Depends what kind of fields... Is there food in them?? Yep. Clover plots on opposite ends of the field. Rifle season.
fly
I have had the best luck 10-20 yards in the woods near the field edges.
wtnhunt
Sat in the woods along the river yesterday morning, nothing going on, not even squirrels and birds. Frozen ice on the seat started melting and my waterproof bibs started feeling a little chilly so moved to my box blind and sat there for the next hour and saw nothing there either. Reminder to self, next time hunting a frozen ice covered stand take a seat cushion. Had a parade to go to for the afternoon otherwise would have sat over the field. Sure the deer got up and fed. Ice and tree limbs crashing this morning had a 3.5 year old buck come out of the woods and across the field about 7:45 am. Too bad it was too cold for the kids to be with me or the wife to be out, I watched as the busted up 17 inch inside buck with decent mass made his way across my field, buck had to have been every bit of 200 lbs on the hoof. Opted to shoot him with the phone camera, did not get great pics. If the wife does not go this afternoon, will have a kid with me in that stand.
