hammerforged
I know this belongs in the Upland room but thought I would get more responses here. I am heading out to west Texas in early February to hunt Chukar - having never hunted Chukar before I was wondering whether to take my 12 gauge or my 28? I have always used my 28 for Quail and we may run up on some while getting after the Chukar.
birdhunter39
I hunt pen raised chukar , no wild chukar in Indiana , i either use my 12 or 16 gauge the choke is the same I/C with 7.5 shot . chukar meat is sweeter tasting then pheasant meat , in my opinion Edited December 19, 2013 by birdhunter39
elkoholic
I would have to go with the 12 gauge, especially if hunting wild birds in open country. They like to run rather than fly and often when they do flush, shots are long. Number 6 shot would also be my choice.
