LETMGROW
On some other forums I have seen RCR get some flack for putting the #3 on the side of a race car. I don't see what the problem is. Richard Childress idolized his friend and driver Dale Earnhardt. It has been over 12 years since Dale was killed in an unfortunate accident in Daytona. Now Richard's grandson is making his rise to stardom in auto racing's biggest venue and is carrying the #3 proudly. The #3 will be represented very respectfully and will live on. I admire Richard Childress for making this decision. I'm sure it wasn't easy for him. It would have been much easier to retire the number and not have to look at it lap after lap in a race. Austin Dillon has some high standards to meet. I'm sure he as Dale's Godson will meet them head on and excel. Go Austin, you have someone riding upon your shoulders. Feel the air? clrj3514
I'm not thrilled about it. As long as everybody that the decision concerns is fine with it, I am too though. I'm not a real big NASCAR fan, but it's not something I would have done.
Zizzer59
I wouldn't be able to do it. Think of how much pressure there would be to be seen with the number 3! I really think the number needs to be retired.
Ravin R10 man
Richard has every right to put #3 back on the track. Dillin will be one to watch Edited December 26, 2013 by Mathews XT Man
MUDRUNNER
I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. It is Richard's choice to do with it what he wants, and I hope Austin has some success with the #3. My concern is that if he isn't successful the #3 will become just another number & the weight and nostalgia it carries will be lost....kind of like the #43 is now.
