Turkeygirl
Anyone shooting a league come 2014? The indoor 3D league I've shot in last 2 years starts January 6th, looking forward to it!
Zizzer59
I'm gonna try to do a few 3D shoots. I have never done one so no league for me.
dbHunterNY
I've got a few. first starting in a week are a couple indoor vegas leagues. then I've got Northeast Bowhunters Alliance (NEBA) outdoor 3D starting in the spring. then starting mid summer I've got Pine Valley outdoor 3D league. Zizzer59
Found out today that a local store is having an indoor 3d shoot thursday night. I went in and talked to the lady at the store about it and she told me not to be nervous about doing good or bad, and they had a guy last week shoot the back wall of the range so that made me feel better lol. I can't wait for it, but I'm still a little nervous about it.

DaisyWar
Newbie Just wanted to drop in and say hi, new to this forum and looking to pick up some tips.
dbHunterNY
Zizzer don't worry about doing well or bad. Just focus on what you need to do and not work yourself up by just wondering how well you'll do. On that note i'll tell you that being nervous and having a little adrenaline pumping through you is a good thing. when that happens all your senses, sight, and coordination is actually better than normal. if you stay focused on what you have to do to make good shots when the time comes you'll be able to shoot well. that's as long as you're trying to shoot correctly with the best form you can. problem is that at times we all get jumpy, anxious, and impatient when it happens. it that happens and you make a bad shot, it's important to take some deep breaths and start new like the next shot is your first. good luck and have fun! Zizzer59
Thanks guys. I shot a 238. Lot of guys busting arrows! Next time my goal is to shoot less 5's, I couldn't even see the scoring rings so I just improvised lol. It was a blast, its a lot better that shooting at a box! It was a blast, its a lot better that shooting at a box! if you've got a decent pair of binoculars bring them and they will help. I've also got cards clipped to my quiver with illustrations of all the animals, if you see them don't think you need them. Binoculars are the way to go. A decent pair of 10x40s will work. I've got Nikon Monarchs with a strap. I lengthen the strap so it goes on my should opposite my bow arm, down across my chest and back, and then the binos hang down at my side facing the target. what's different about shooting 3D targets is when they're rotated the vitals will shift left or right, unlike being in the same spot on a real animal. Zizzer59
Just got back from a shoot. We shot 30 times again and I shot a 254. I added 16 points to my score so I was pumped about that. I shot more 5's than I wanted to but I didn't bust an arrow so that's good. It's safe to say I am hooked on 3D now so I think I will buy a good arrow puller due to my hand throbbing! Do you have to get certain placement cards for each brand of target or are they all the same?
dbHunterNY
they're not all the same. however, I've got them and I'm telling you that they won't do you any good compared to a good set of binoculars. I hardly ever use mine. there are many types of pullers I've got one that is basically just a sheet of rubber. it's got leather too for waxing a string. http://www.highcountryoriginals.com/whackerseries.html Lancaster archery sells one similar too. http://www.lancasterarchery.com/aae-arrow-puller.html
Zizzer59
I started to price bino's online, but man are they expensive! I think my main problem is that half of the targets are worn out and you can't even see the 12 ring when you are a foot away.
dbHunterNY
better glass helps but you can just use the ones you would normally for hunting.
dbHunterNY
shot a couple indoor vegas 450 rounds so far this year. no indoor 3D but got the outdoor 3D schedule that starts in March.
Turkeygirl
Shot my first 2 scores last Friday...143 and 146. Not horrible for being sick and not shooting since archery season. Hope to get some practice in before shooting next week. Love 3D! Thinking about changing the peep size on my bow...have a 1/4" which is great for light but too much sight picture when shooting at a target. I'll see what next week brings. dbHunterNY
So I've now got my PSE Evo and now in the mail I've got a PSE Bowmadness 3G coming. I think I might turn one of them into a dedicated 3D bow or backup hunting bow if I need it. it might end up being the bowmadness; 330fps IBO, 7" brace height, 33 1/8" axle to axle. once I get them both together i'll have to post pics. Turkeygirl
Sounds sweet db!!! Gotta love playing with a new bow! That's what I did...my 2011 Elite is hunting, the 2013 Elite I won is for 3D...not completely dedicated though....because I may just have to tag a deer with it:-D
Turkeygirl
Woohoo, shot well today. Turned in 2 scores for 2 weeks - shot a 150 and a 153. Only one 8 ring, the rest were 10 and 11 rings:)
Zizzer59
I did my first outdoor tournament last sunday and shot a 204 on twenty-five targets. I shot bowhunter novice and the farthest distance was 30 yards. I shot an indoor today with 30 targets and shot 260 even with a miss because I hit a tree! I'm slowly getting better. Turkeygirl
Shot my next 2 scores today, for having not shot at all since last time, I was happy with how I shot: 153 and 149. Blew a shot and scored a 5 on one target on the second round that gave me 149. Ah well....doing pretty good this year so far:)
dbHunterNY
Shot my next 2 scores today, for having not shot at all since last time, I was happy with how I shot: 153 and 149. Blew a shot and scored a 5 on one target on the second round that gave me 149. Ah well....doing pretty good this year so far:) Ruth how many targets do you shoot where you go indoors? are they farther than 30 yards? I think local clubs around here only have about 9 targets out and maximum of 30 yards. there's one better one more like what I remember yours being like but it's over an hour away in Amsterdam, NY (Bowhunters Plus). Turkeygirl
It's about a 35 yard range. 15 targets each round. I shoot 2 rounds (1 round for each week) so I go every other week. They move the targets around, usually making them a little more difficult each week, then the last week they might set it up a little easier. They have several rhinehart targets....the one dinosaur they always set out at the max distance and I always have trouble on that one target....
