WestKyTeacher
The wife surprised me with a Thompson's Center Impact for Christmas, price $219.99. They have the Omega there for $379.99 in nickle/syn but the local Wal-mart has the Omega Z5 Rifle for $297.00 in black. What should a man do? Never used a muzzleloader before but looking to start. wtnhunt
Don't think you could go wrong with either. Guess it depends on what you like better and on you're budget.
WestKyTeacher
Just curious if there is anything that would make me want to get the omega over the impact. Ease of loading, cleaning, shooting, etc.
Maine Hntr
I don't know anything about the impact but I shoot the omega black synthetic with a Nikon BDC scope and it's an easy reliable gun, haven't had any issues with it. RangerClay
I'm not 100% sure but I think that T/C is done making the Omega. You may want to look into the T/C Triumph instead. It has speed breech and that is sweet. There is nothing wrong with the Impact either. It is great gun.
PotashRLS
I bought the Impact this fall as a secondary gun to my encore. The trigger is every bit as good as the reviews and it shoots well. I will probably get a new ram rod as the one with it is only threaded on one end but it is a great gun for the price. I paid $209.99 on sale. Couldn't pass it up.
Turkeygirl
I got a TC Omega Z5 from a co-worker for like $200 basically new. I haven't shot a deer with it yet but having had it for 2 years, the thing is a tack driver with open sights at about 60-70 yards. I'm sure if I put a scope on it, it would really reach out. wtnhunt
Actions are different aren't they? Omega is not a break action, the impact I think is. Either should be capable of good accuracy with the right load. Loading ease should be about the same, however the break action will require you to open the gun to repime where the other will not. Don't really see any advantages with cleaning one over the other, but nickel may be more resistant to corrosion.
jesse8953
the omega is also a break action. I have the omega realtree hardwoods thumbhole with a nicon bdc.I love it.
VermontHunter
I love my TC Triumph which is very reasonably priced ... The TC Omega doesn't have the traditional break open breech like the TC Triumph has. I like the ease of the removability of the breech plug ha the TC Triumph offers. This is the beech of the TC Omega .. as you can easily see it's not a true break action .. (This definitely takes nothing from this great weapon) This is the breech of the TC Triumph, as you can see it's a true break action making access to the breech plug simple and effortless. BOTH of these weapons are great IMHO ....
