Gajbird
The day after christmas, My son in law was hunting in Hart Co Georgia and as he was leaving his deer stand he was shot by a trespasser. Who happen to be a convicted felon and wasn't even supposed to have a gun. My son in law hollered out to him that he had shot him. The guy ran and left my son in law to die. My the grace of god he was able to stay conscious and dial 911 himself and lead law enforcement and ambulances to his location. He underwent a 4 hr surgery and has had several more since. He has just recently been released from the hospital but has more surgery and many many months of recovery in his future. The trespasser was caught the next day and is currently in jail. I ask for your prayers for my daughter and son in law( who is and avid hunter and fisherman) as they have a long road to recovery. All my thanks Edited January 20, 2014 by Gajbird
Muff
Not sure if this is true or not....if it is I do hope he is ok......I just find it very funny that your first ever post on here is asking for support and money.
Ravin R10 man
"Ga. Jail Bird"....sounds like a con to me too Muff, and now the post got "edited"... Hope it all turns out well "GaJB"
redkneck
Prayers for your son in law. I hate to hear that, a real tragedy. btw Martin "Jay bird" is what lots of folks down here call blue jays. The screen name didn't say jail bird. Not that I'm attesting to his sincerity but would seem odd for someone to come on here making up something like this.

Ravin R10 man
I did send prayers his way, even though from what original post said, sounded very suspicious as Muff pointed out. Seen way too many scams to take this as a legit 1st post. I still have my doubts.
redkneck
Link to the story http://onlineathens.com/local-news/2013-12-30/hart-county-deputies-arrest-suspect-shooting-deer-hunter Will continue to pray for him, very tragic story that could happen to any of us. My cousin's father was shot on the club just south of ours 20 years ago, he was not wearing orange and a kid shot him thinking the climber on his back was antlers, he lived ten days after being gutted by a 30-06 ballistic tip. I do not and will not allow my girls to hunt in the evenings without a flashlight. If I had a choice between orange and a light, I'd let them take the ticket and keep the flashlight. Ravin R10 man
Thanks Redk...it does check out then...tragic deal for sure. Gajbird, I apologize for doubting you..wish the link would have been put up with original post, would have cleared up some of my questions for sure. Best wishes for your son in law Edited January 21, 2014 by Mathews XT Man

Gajbird
Sorry guys for the confusion. There was a link posted for donation site that that they have but was not intended for this post. I did not realize it was there and it was late when I saw muffs post and removed it. I have been busy last few days helping getting him to drs appts and working. Thanks for the help on the newspaper link. And by the way he was wearing his orange vest and had flashlight. Again thanks for your prayers.
Gajbird
Also, I don't usually follow hunting forums but I did make the post for prayers and hunter awareness. While you may be doing everything right and by the law, someone else's stupidity and carelessness can change your life forever. If hunting alone please have someway to get in touch with others such as cell phone. If he had not had his, he would never have made it out of the woods. hogwild63
This is one of the reasons why Hunters Helping Hunters USA was formed - too many scams on the NAHC forums. We perform the due diligence when an application is received and have caught someone trying to double dip the insurance company. We do not pay the applicants but make payments directly to the vendors. Best part of my job is sometimes I get to say "your application has been approved". The worst part is hearing about the tragedies. What a horrible thing to go have to go through. Sending prayers for your friend.
Ravin R10 man
Wow..he did everything right and still gets shot!...some people do not belong in the woods man...
redkneck
Almost impossible to believe the guy was not intentionally shot, how can you accidentally shoot someone with orange and a light on? Unreal. I wish him and your family all the best. Edited January 22, 2014 by redkneck
