hoytman62
I've been hearing about the Black Rack Rattle for deer. Has anyone had any experience with them and what do you think about them? Thanks....
Ravin R10 man
just use shed antlers here...a guy could go broke buying every new call or must have gadget out there
dbHunterNY
I've yet to find a shed to rattle that effectively with. also it doesn't seem to work as well here. They are what they are. for a fake antler set I think they great in design but I rarely like to carry them into the woods. I hardly carry even a rattle bag. I've had the same grunt calls and rattle bag for well over a decade now. they still work good.

Stinger-Hunter
I hunt in MN, Indiana and Illinois. Deer seldom respond to rattling. In fact, I have yet to have a buck or a dow come in to rattling (after 12 years of hunting.).
Zizzer59
They respond pretty good down here in MO for me. I never used the Black Rack but I got some success from rattle bags. Maybe if I could ever find sheds then I could use those, but until then its the bag for me. A few years ago, I was rattling and nothing was going on so I sat for a few minutes until I heard a gunshot a couple hundred yards from me. The guy on the neighbors place shot a nice 8 that he said came running through towards me. Some people get all the luck.....
RangerClay
I have a small basket 6 that I use to rattle with. I've had little success but like Zizzler I called in a big 8 point that would not come through a hedge row to get to me. He turned away and went on another property....BANG! Conditions have to be just right for it to work.
wtnhunt
Dunno. Have called in some smaller bucks rattling. Have tried a rattle bag and also tried real antlers here. Neither are as effective here as grunting.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I got a set as a gift but have yet to try them... I've had limited success rattling around here and the black rack just doesn't sound right to me. I might try them next season if I feel like carrying more stuff into the woods I don't need.. Ravin R10 man
Think it is all timing as far as a buck wanting to come to check it out. Have had bucks come in on a run and turn and leave after hearing a sequence.
fly
I've never had a deer come in to rattling either. However, I have had them come in three times as I make noise with my climber going up a tree. Of course my bow would still be on the ground so I just watched. I also have had some come in when I was breaking twigs and moving leaves when hunting the ground. Grunting has worked for me as has snort wheezing. I think rattling works, but has to be the right buck at the right time.
brad dryden
I have had alot of luck rattling here in Indiana. Mainly use real antlers but never had any luck with rattle bags.
