NEbuck
I am getting ready to build a deer blind for next season, that I will put on a 10' tall platform. I was just wondering what you guys like for windows? Preferably pre-manufactured. I have tried making my own and have not liked the way they turned out. Thanks in advance. wtnhunt
Used plexiglass on sliding tracks here. No complaints really other than that i did not clean the edges well enough and so they got a bit scratched up. Been needing to replace them. Stinger-Hunter
I have no preference. I would say that putting forth a system that allows complete silence. So whatever those windows are made out of... have it quiet (if you're close to the game).
Ravin R10 man
stinger is dead on!...up here we get ice/snow/freezing rain...windows with slides will not do here, either makes too much noise or can be frozen shut. I have much better luck with hinged windows
WHISKEYSWAMP
I pulled the glass out of windows (free) and made my own frames out of treated wood... they hinge inward and up, then hook onto a bungy strap screwed in the side. Only problem is the window pretty much has to be open for the shot but they are quiet. My buddy has used the sliding plexiglass and it works well too... his slide up by attaching a string to the upper corners, then up through a loop which acts as a pulley. All you do is pull down on the string and attach to a hook.
Rhino
I agree with the others that recommend hinged windows for the same reasons. Here's a site I was just checking out that gives you options. Personally I like the idea of a hinged window that folds up on the inside for gun hunting. For bowhunting obviously to either side but still hinged on the inside. http://www.deerviewwindows.com/hinge-window.php Check out your options for size, pictures, and check out their brochure. RangerClay
Got tired of paying for pop-up blinds that don't last long. So I built this 6x6x6. I used plexiglass for my windows. If you look at the bottom center of the window you can barely see the white rope that goes through a pulley. A light pull and it slides open just enough to let an arrow out. Before painting and brushing in. After brushing in.
dbHunterNY
yup hinged windows I've found to work better. tall narrow ones for bow hunting or deer just below the blind, hinged to the side. bigger gun windows hinged above.
