A change is gonna come...

After 8-years at my current company (commercial combustion, refinery equipment) I have accepted another offer and gave my 2-weeks this morning.

I’m going to miss this job. I currently travel around the USA on a fairly regular basis, hitting refineries and chemical plants. I have process and destruction equipment in pretty much all of them. I get to go to places like Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houston, San Fran, NY, NJ, Florida, Georgia, etc. Pretty regular. I literally travel at will.... I make fire for a living. We bring heaters (think large buildings, ranging in size several stories) to internal temps up from 1200f - 2200f. Then, any off gas produced is either re-used or flared off. We do that too. Interesting, fun work.

However, I had another company contact me for an interview. They do the opposite to some degree. They build commercial grade coolers (cools gases, chemicals, etc). This too is oil/ gas and chemical but not nearly as interesting. Regardless, they offered me a Manager's position over two of their groups. It comes will all of the management types of perks: Pay, bonus potential, people working under me, etc. Too good to say no.....

So as of this morning, I turned in a notice. Even with the potential of this new job and an incredible increase in pay, it’s going to be HARD to walk out of here on 02/21.

To new beginnings....

Congratulations on the new job Jeramie. Sounds like your benefits of taking the new position are a lot better than where you've been. You have to do what's best for you and your family. It's only natural to feel that way about leaving a job after that long. By the way...just my $0.02 but having people working under you isn't really a perk...it can be both rewarding and trying at times.
