stevenjackson
This is pretty crazy, that dude was a mean buck. Buck fight and hunt all in one here, enjoy http://huntervids.com/videos/a-deadly-buck-battle-in-oklahoma/
Ravin R10 man
Ok, great fight, poor footage. Now that I saw the entire footage; I gotta rant here. I got a problem with this so called "hunter". His tag SHOULD have gone on the dead buck from the fight..out of respect he should have made an effort to salvage that one. No, he "GUT" shoots and kills another, and leaves the other for the cyotes. Plus the one he shot, got left overnight, which he is very lucky that didn't get eaten up. Curse me out if you want, I'd have tagged the fight killed buck, what a waste.( imho) Or at least contact DNR and donate dead deer to HUSH program This guy would never hunt my farm ever again. wtnhunt
Um ok. So he is "hunting" over bait. Footage was really poor. Leaves a dead buck for yotes that might have been salvageable. Makes a poor shot, and was disappointed the deer was only a 130 class buck. Guess other than that it was cool. Do agree with him about taking kids, hope he sets a better example for the kids. RangerClay
Although the quality of the footage is poor, it is definately a great example of how Mother Nature can be merciless b_tch. However I cannot agree with Martin (to a point). I'm given 1 tag to hunt with. I'm not going to waste it on the bruised up piece of swiss cheese of a deer. I would contact my local Encon officer for a tag or for him to pick it up for donation. So yes I would have shot the 130 class deer. Shame on the hunter for putting down the deer for being "only" a 130 class deer. I'm giving the shooter the benefit of the doubt. One thing that does not show up in the video is where the shot deer finally lays down. If that deer had laid down anywhere near the beat up deer. I'm wouldn't take a chance of bumping the shot deer for the other. Thanks for sharing the cool video.
hoosierhunter
The big problem I have is him standing. And watching it unfold. I personally would have gotten out of the blind once I saw that start going wrong. I do agree with shooting the bully buck though. If he killed that one who knows what else he would go after. Ravin R10 man
I did say he should have at least contacted DNR and try to salvage the dead one. Ranger, I doubt his buck was near the dead one,or it too would have been cyote food. I bet if the injured buck would have walked by he would have killed it and tagged it. No doubt it would have bruising. I have NO time for Blatantly wasting a deer, you out to do the right thing if it means burning your tag to do it. Otherwise your just a greedy meat monger. abrown
Let me rant a little. We do have 2 buck tags here in OK, so we can harvest 2 bucks with a bow if he hasn't already filled one of them. Our rules also allow us to harvest multiple deer in the same day! So there's a chance he MIGHT of had another buck tag in is pocket, or not! HOWEVER!! 1. The wounded buck was NOT dead when he left the field, PLEASE try and corner a wounded buck and see what happens! 2. He made a bad shot on the bigger buck and decided to back out, HOW is that not ethical? He could have contacted a local gamewarden and went back out that night to check on the wounded buck, pretty sure the gamewardens would have told him to just wait and check on him in the morning, which would have been too late! That's mother nature!
wtnhunt
Deadly BUCK battle in Oklahoma! Audio the guy was saying he killed him he's dead long before the deer he shot got in front of him. Matter of fact the yote bait deer got up several times after he said it. Part of my problem with this is that he did not go and verify the deer was dead, and evidently it was not dead. Dunno about anyone else, but i know our warden and have his number in my phone as well as the number to our local twra office. I would be willing to bet a phone call explaining the situation would have had him with permission to salvage the deer and put it down if needed. If i heard right towards the end of the video they showed the blood all over where he said the deer was probably NOT dead when the yotes found it. Not pushing the gut shot deer was never a question here. Real lucky the deer he shot did not get eaten too. If they were close the yotes would have found it too. wtnhunt
Deadly BUCK battle in Oklahoma! You may be right Joe, who knows. I know yotes will gorge themselves and it does not take but a few to strip a carcass in a very short amount of time. Get a pack of 6 or so and a couple wounded deer would be easily cleaned up overnight. Also know gut shot deer around here are usually found by yotes pretty quick. I would be real curious how far the two deer ended up apart.
