The Bug House
...Despite a cold and snowy forecast for the next week. Leaving for Florida the last week of March and working OT in the meantime. Doesn't take much this time of year to turn it really sloppy on the surface. Yesterday the air temp was 28°F as a high, and the sun felt so warm! ..... So we took advantage of the great conditions and pulled it off. Here's a few more pics of our season. IIRC, this was New Years Day I used a gas auger this year, it was absolutely nessecary, as the ice thickness reached 30" by Feb. Also the smaller 6" holes cut with the hand auger froze back up very quickly. Fishing has been slow past 10 days or so, caught these 2 Pike last week. One was 30" and the other was 31.5" Both just over 6lbs.

The Bug House
-25 Northern Mn. Sat eve. we had -8 were still MAKING ice here! well, gotta saddle up the Musk OX and head out Just read a warning from F&W in todays paper, between the angle of the sun and the shorter nights, the ice rots from below very quickly this time of year. Still easily 2 - 3' in many places.
