Re: Would you rather bowhunt or gun hunt

honestly it doesn't matter me. I grew up around gun hunting and i love it. when i was 13 i started to bowhunt and my dad starting bowhunting this year for the first time in his life. I enjoy hunting with my brother and dad and it doesn't matter whether it is with a gun or bow. just being in the woods is great

Re: Would you rather bowhunt or gun hunt

I got in a habit of doing nothing but bowhunting, but a few years back my Dad gave me another flintlock muzzleloader, that he made, and the blackpowder bug bit me again. I still bowhunt 90% of the time, I would rather shoot a big buck with my bow and make meat with the flintlock...but the past two years I didn't get a shot on a big buck with the bow and I just happened to shoot my two best bucks with my flintlock in the past two years!! Still love to bowhunt, and if I do gun hunt it will be with the flinter! grin.gif

Re: Would you rather bowhunt or gun hunt

They are two different experiences and I would not give up either one.

I have seen two people comment about it not being as fun to shoot a deer at 300 yards or more with a gun. Many people think they can shoot deer at 300yards but very few can actually hit a deer at much more than 100.

Re: Would you rather bowhunt or gun hunt

I see as many deer up close with my gun, as I do with my bow. The rush is still there, but not quite as heavy.

Try raising your gun when a big deer is closing in on you fast, and you will find out what kind of thrill there is in gun hunting too. If you always have to shoot deer at 300 yards with a gun, your stand position isn't right.

Re: Would you rather bowhunt or gun hunt

Ive seen a lot of other hunting forums go nuts and get rude with this type of post about gun or bow. I rather shoot a big buck with a bow, but I still love to gun hunt. This coming year, I'm taking another step into gun hunting when I buy a Muzzelloader, but I rather bowhunt as much as I can. But I still love to gun hunt just as much,
