This is why we put in food plots so early

Yea...looking good so far. I was scratching my head over the title of this thread. The food plots planted last fall here in Mississippi are kicking in new growth now...not new food plots planted this year. We always have a lot of early spring activity in those plots before they start hitting the new growth in the timber. BTW...I haven't bothered running trail cams since last winter. Pulled a card on a camera this past week while attempting to turkey hunt a friend's place in Alabama and got this nice 10 point still wearing his headgear. BTW...the rut there is usually late January to early February.

Dang Rhino, that's a heck of a buck!

Bowhunter97, what did you plant? I think that a mixture of Joint Vetch an Alyce Clover would be perfect for the hunting you do down there. I have no experience with either, but have read great things. Think Rhino used to plant summer plots in it as well, maybe he'll chime in with some help on it.

Put a camera back out on our mineral site to test it out and got 2 little bucks as recent as yesterday still carrying last years antlers. No new growth yet.

Need to fertilize and lime our clover plots. They responded real well to the first mowing. Probably spray soon too.
