Then into camp in the early PM on Thursday. I'm stoked for this hunt. Love hearing them "Gobble"
Rhino
Thanks dbHunter...looking forward to enjoying the trip with the crew. I'll load up my Tahoe Wednesday and head that way Thursday morning. Hope the load doesn't make me look like the Beverly Hillbilly's are coming in. If I have trouble sleeping, I'll leave earlier than 7:00 a.m. but I hope to get a good night's sleep before making the drive. Should take me ~9 1/2 hours. Rhino
Looks like Tim hasn't updated y'all on the hunt yet...so I will. Here's where the crew stands so far but most of the crew is still in the woods. Greg (from LA) - tagged his 1st bird yesterday morning & his 2nd bird yesterday afternoon. Don't recall the stats except his 2nd bird was a 2 year old that weighed 25#...that's healthy! He's out double teaming them with his dad (Ken) now. Ken - 1 super jake down (full fan & a jake beard) & 1 bird to go. Yours truly - Stick a fork in me...I'm done. Stories later. 1st bird killed yesterday morning at 11:25 (Fantastic battle & LONG story) - 23.5#, 10" beard, 1 1/8" spurs (I took the afternoon off yesterday). My 2nd bird was smashed down this morning at 7:10 - 19.5#, 9 7/8" beard, 3/4" spurs. Best beard out of 3 gobblers that came in at 15 yards. Bob - Killed a nice 2.5 year old bird yesterday morning- 19.5#, can't remember the rest. 1 bird to go. Tim - As y'all know 1 bird down....ahhhh...well 1 swing & a miss...1 bird still to go. BTW...he spent 10 hours in a ground blind yesterday with Adam & it got HOT yesterday afternoon...he had a great hunt with LOTS of gobbling but no gobblers came in range. Bob's buddy Doug - Passed on a bird yesterday... he's out going for both birds today. Another hunter I think his name is William (I suck remembering new names) - 1 bird down & 1 to go. That's the quick version...more to come. Pics to come later too. Hickory Creek has been taking the pics of all the birds but only Tim's been getting them so far.
