first morning I've gone out here. one step behind them all morning. Called in 3 jakes. Setup, called in, and got busted by same long beard not 2 but 3 times. Then called two biggest longbeards of my life. they hung up twice and second time just out of range. probably trying again in the AM. quiting early though to do some striper fishing on the river. got a couple more weekends this month but action dies quick late May.

I got a gobbler the weekend after the KS trip. I called one in for my wife the following weekend. Mine had a 9" beard, Jean's 71/2"----both had 3/4" spurs. We are tagged out. Waiting for next year.

Doug got 1 also. He's out with his wife this weekend.

You know a guy without a cell phone can't possibly post photo's. I'll see if Jean can for me.

Got up at 5 a.m. and it was 20 degrees and calm. Got ready and got out to blind by 5;30 a.m. and got settled in. at 6 a.m. I hear gobblers fire up west of me, after fly down all was silent. Every half hour or so I would offer a Hot hen yelp, as the wind was taking the calls right in the direction of the area the birds had been roosted. about 9;30 the snow storm we were expecting started in, light at first and not much wind, At 1;30 pm three hens come in and so I got real live clucking decoys, I had none out because they like to travel my trails to and from roosting area. Now the snow was heavy and 30 mph winds...at 2;30 pm out comes two jakes four hens and a gobbler, and come walking up my plot towards the other hens that are scratching and feeding. I get my gun up and ready, but he gets in with the hens and mills around for at least 15 minutes. Finally he gets off to the side, I get a good look at his head and let my 3.5" Winchester Supreme 5"s fly...down he goes and he dont even flop. 25&1/2 # 10.8 " beard spurs both just under an inch

We had a great hunt closing out the Missouri season. My buddy and I both got a 2nd gobbler. Mine was a double bearded bird with an 11 1/2" beard, an 8 1/4" beard, & 1 1/8" hooks. His had a 10 1/4" beard & 1 3/16" spurs. We had a guest who's become a good friend and also a client of ours. He killed both of his MO birds. One with my buddy as his guide, the 2nd with me as his guide. His 1st bird was a double beard with a 10" beard, a 5" beard along with 1" spurs. His 2nd bird had a 10 1/2" beard with 1 1/8" spurs. My buddy's son finished his exams and joined us for the last 2 days of the season. He also killed a double beard on the last day of the season with an 10 1/4" beard, a 4 1/4" beard, & 1 1/4" spurs with his dad playing guide. 1st time my buddy had guided his son on a successful turkey hunt with him. Extra special hunt for them! Pics and story to come later when I return home. We'll be taking care of more ranch chores today and tomorrow morning before returning home.
