hoosierhunter
I was lucky enough to do a little fishing combo fishing. I went to Lake Erie for two days last week and then did a little bass fishing on the weekend. Erie was a slight bust as we only caught 34 fish in two days. The bass was about a 5-7 lbs. She took me nearly 20 minutes and about 6 lure changes to catch! I first saw her cruising about 4 feet deep and ended up getting her to hit a chartreuse spinner. I followed her up with a 4 pounder about an hour later. Earlier in the year I landed a 10 & 6 pounder in the same day too! Not to shabby for bass coming from a cold weather climate!
woolybear
Real nice catch there Hoosier! Congrats. Erie really is a great fishery, but it can switch from hot to cold any given day or hour. Where abouts did you set sail out of? I used to practically live on that lake and have seen first hand some of the trophy size SM, LM, perch, lakers, steelies, and walleye it produces. May has always been one of the top months out there for sizers IMO, but you could stay on the fish all summer long once you learn your way around. 34 fish in two days really isn't all that bad especially for a non resident. hoosierhunter
We went with Seabreeze out of oak harbor(wild wings ). We fished c can and west of west sister trolling. IMO we should have at least limited one day trolling 8 rods with 6 guys. I won't fish with this charter again. I prefer to cast but I was outvoted both days for that. RTF
When I hear Lake Erie all I think about is smallmouth and walleye. The best lake in the east for those species imo
