Jeramie
We had an employee auction at my new office. I bought a host of stuff (I-Beam, Square Tubing, S-Beam, Etc.). I ended up buying some big ticket items for a song. I bought 11 Miller 3-phase, 460V welders and a 20' (4x8) off road, scissor-manlift. The manlift is supposed to be working but the batteries are dead. A bearing was starting to wobble and because of Osha standards they parked it for 2-3 years. Ergo, the batteries are flat as a pancake. I’ve been checking around and they seem to run around $158.00 for a 6V battery. I need 6 so I’m hoping to get out a little cheaper! This manlift is awesome. It literally has a 4x8 platform with offroad tires. It is driven via joy stick and has some serious lift. If figure im working on the house enough it will come in very handy. It would also be REALLY handy for putting up Christmas lights and such. My brother is already making plans for a mobile deer blind I really hate to put $1,000 in it. I paid $25 for the lift (yes, $25). It is as heavy as a car. Most guys didn’t have the means or want to try and haul it home.... my inner redneck came out. I can turn and sell it, probably turn about $1,000 profit or so but honestly, if I can get batteries in it cheap I would rather keep it and use it around the house. Any ideas? Jeramie
Ill have to stop and see what they run... doesnt show online pricing. I was told you could use 12V deep cell and it would take 3 batteries. Anyone know If this a hard conversion? Those are around $100 - $125 each... Jeramie
We are thinking the same thing.... not sure if I can legally use it though because technically, it does drive. May need to email the local warden. Being electric, it should be quiet!
wtnhunt
Yeah Sams club may be a good place to check. Might also check with places that repair golf carts. Last few batteries i have bought including the battery for my kubota tractor came from Walmart. Kinda mixed thoughts on their batteries. Had fair luck with their maxx marine and truck batteries, but would never buy another battery from them for an atv.
Leo
Good luck! Deep cycle 6V batteries are tough to find and even tougher to find inexpensively. I'd be looking very seriously at making the conversion to three 12v Deep Cycles.
