Gator
As bad as I hate to admit it, I may be looking for a crossbow come bow season. Having torn up both shoulders this past year, it's all I can do to pull my bow back, and at the rate I'm going, it doesn't look like it's going to get any better. Not being all that familiar with them, I have no idea what to look for. Do I get a recurve style, one with no wheels, or go with wheels? looking at the 600-700 dollar range
Ravin R10 man
http://crossbows.findthebest.com/ saw a "test" report where they shot the bows continually until they failed, was interesting.
MUDRUNNER
I bought my Daughter a Barnett recruit last year and it has been a decent bow for the price. I think Barnett had a few years where their bows had some issues, but so far so good . For that price you should be able to get something pretty decent. Look into Wicked Ridge crossbows. They are made by 10 Point and I think they fall into your price range.
wtnhunt
Some shoulder troubles and joint issues here have had me also considering the possibility of a crossbow. Will have to keep up with suggestions here. Noticed the wicked ridge as being a ten point bow. Rural king has some pretty good deals going on the wicked ridge crossbows. Got a couple hundred dollars in cabelas points saved up, cannot decide whether to keep saving towards a crossbow or get some reloading stuff i need, really needing a good case trimmer and a few other things. Rhino
Since I don't own one I'm certainly not one to give advise here. If I were going to consider hunting with one I'd research the net for expert reviews. Also...I would opt for one that is lighter in weight too. That would be more important to me than speed. Also, I'd certainly consider noise level too. I know several people that hunt with crossbows & they are cumbersome to haul back & forth from a stand. Catch on just about all the brush you pass. Throw in the extra weight of one compared to a compound & it's an issue to deal with. Now...with all that said...here's an interesting site that is supposed to be expert reviews of 2014 crossbows. I'd prefer an expert's unbiased opinion since if a hunter owns one his opinion is usually biased toward it. http://bestcrossbowsreviews2014.com/

wtnhunt
Been trying to check into some reviews on this one http://www.cabelas.com/product/Barnett-Brotherhood-Crossbow-Package/1827674.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3FrecordsPerPage%3D18%26No%3D0%26N%3D0%26nl%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dbarnett%2Bbrotherhood%26search%3DSearch&No=0&Ntt=barnett+brotherhood , but not found any. fly
I bought a TenPoint a couple years ago and flat out love it. I am more accurate with it out to 50 yards than I am with any of my slug shotguns. I have the Stealth XLT model that is no longer made. It shoots bolts about 316 FPS which is wicked fast. I shot a buck and the bolt went completely through and completely buried in the ground. Most models are made for three or four years then TenPoint gets faster and changes things around. I bought mine new for $900.00 on sale as they were discontinuing the model. The Titan Xtreme is currently running at the top end of your budget and for under 800.00 it's not a bad choice in my opinion. It shoots 333 FPS and comes with a scope, quiver, and bolts. Looks like Native outdoors lists it for 769.00. The turn crank accudraw is my favorite accessory. It allows me to easily reload while up in my treestand or practicing. Don't know much about the type without wheels. I hear they last longer, but I've never shot one.

dogdoc
Quote Excalibur crossbows are simple and tough. I love my Excalibur. So simple to use. The one thing that did surprise me is how loud they are compared to my Bowtech bow. However, with the speed they are tossing the bolts out at I don't think it matters. It has also allowed me to bow hunt with my daughters as they can't pull back a legal bow yet. As you know Izzy killed her first deer with the crossbow last season and she is excited to go again. todd
The Bug House
I just picked up a Parker Blackhawk ..... 160lb draw, 320fps. I can only go out 35yds at my place, but I sighted it in in about 10 minutes. I also picked up a case and a target, it came with a quiver and 4 20" bolts and a rope cocker. Guys at the local Bow shop were more than happy to show me the basics and even let my shoot it several times before deciding which one to buy. It's an AR pistol grip platform, came with a scope mounted on a Picatinny rail. I've only shot it about 25 times so far, but I like it quite a bit! ETA: I'd much rather shoot a bow, but an old injury to my arm makes it impossible for me to draw.
Gator
Looked at a couple barnetts today at bass Pro. Hopefully will get to shoot one tomorrow night. Really liked the Jackal. Any one had any experience with it?
Ravin R10 man
checked out Ten point x bows wicked ridge and looking at Barnett not sure Im ready to make the jump, but can do so and be shooting either one in a day or two if I decide. Been watching ebay, but then you have bows that still need the cocking device, broadheads, who knows if it's damaged...think I'd rather go to my pro shop and get it all, and keep them in business. At least they will service it if need be. Talked with the owner Saturday, and checked Ten Point, Wicked Ridge....He said just holler if you got a question, and if you want to get one set up Harold will get ya set up anytime you decide. The owner Tom, went to school with my sis...service guy grew up about a mile east of my farm. They are like family to us. Our family buys all our bows at his store.
