wtnhunt Posted July 3, 2014 Report Share Posted July 3, 2014 .... might be able to answer a question for me. Helped Christina get a clean low mileage 2001 Buick lesabre. Evidently there was an issue with the cable for the window regulators. Both back are broken, checked the motors and they are fine. Had her pick up new regulators from our motor parts store since they were the only store i called that had them in stock. Easy enough job, one problem though. The new regulators are not to the same specs as the oem parts. The motor bolt pattern is not the same size. So the original motors won't work with the new regulators. Why would an aftermarket part manufacturer make these parts out of spec, seems stupid. Without going to a dealership and paying 4x the cost for an aftermarket complete assembly does anyone know if there is a regulator that fits with the original motors? I can buy generic complete motor and regulator assemblies for both rear windows online for less than the cost locally than the driver side. Was kind of hoping to stick with the original motors since they are fine rather than getting something aftermarket made entirely from China. redkneck Posted July 4, 2014 Report Share Posted July 4, 2014 Idk William. The ones I've put in on my mother in law's Buick I just got the complete assembly. They were a pain but they fit fine. They may have made a mid year model change, or sometimes aftermarket companies tweak the design a little, so that regulator may fit their motor but not the oem one, but why they would sell it like that is beyond me. At least these are bolts and not rivets, have changed some before that required drilling out rivets. Finding acdelco "pro" regulators online that look to have two sets of holes. Rock auto has them in stock with prices comparable to what i have seen on Ebay. Left messages with a few Sellers there about compatibility yesterday but never heard back. Guess i will call them and make sure they will work, probably be Monday before i can get anyone on the phone though. Sure don't want to assume they will work. When I was at GM there wasn't any aftermarket available but that may have changed. The OEM ones were like $650 up here. Absolutely ridiculous. They have two sets of holes and the motors will work but will have to find nuts to match up or maybe just use different bolts, i have a few laying around. lol. wtnhunt Posted July 24, 2014 Author Report Share Posted July 24, 2014 Easy enough, took maybe 45 minutes to have motors swapped out and both sides back together and door panels back on. With a couple weeks use now so far the new delco regs with factory motors seem to be good. Motors sound good and roll up like a new car. Only issue i could see at all was one side the window trim is messed up and was binding at first, but got that straight. Just FYI, or anyone elses, NAPA has replacement regulators with motors available for around $90. These are "plug and play". I use these all the time and have only had one failure up to now. They come with a lifetime warranty which would be honored at any NAPA store with a receipt from the original purchase.
